so i had some corn on the kob in the freezer i decided to have for lunch. which made me think if corn does not break down during digestion and is still solid in the fecal matter.... is it really that good for you, as a vegtable?

The cellulose portions of the corn do not break down, there are still nutrients that are taken from the corn though. Mostly what you see is the husk of the kernel.0

I always wondered the same thing!0

make sure you chew corn very, very well. Don't swallow full kernels.0

??? Corn is still solid after it comes out? :noway: I have never noticed this...0

Corn isn't a vegetable. But we still consider it one.
That is very funny tho. I was just thinking, I remember when my kids were in diapers and I could tell they had corn. lol0 -
it's a good example of what fiber does for you, granted you should thoroughly chew the corn to get the most out of it, but it's a perfect visible idea of why we want fiber in our diets0

Corn is a grain. and should be looked at as one. in my opinion.0

corn the almighty indestructible veggie.0

You never really get to "eat" corn....we just sorta "borrow" it. :laugh:0

PHEW! I am the type who has to watch the train wreck. I expected a lot worse when I opened a thread with the words "corn" and "TMI" in the subject.
Just for the record, you should treat corn as a grain/starch not as a vegetable. For instance, if I had chicken and corn for dinner, I would need some veg on my plate to round out the meal.0 -
Thanks. so much i never knew about corn!
Then again... i still believe pluto is a planet :-p0
