HIIT?

I keep seeing "HIIT" in a lot of posts lately and I was wondering what it was. It's probably something super obvious but you don't know until you ask and "knowing is half the battle!"

High Intensity Interval training it means burst of exercise at your maximum intensity for about a minute or so then resting for the same amount of time. The do it all over again!0

HIIT = High Intensity Interval Training
The general idea is to alternate between 60 seconds of all-out effort followed by 60 seconds of a more moderate recovery effort, then repeat several times. The number of seconds and number of repetitions vary depending on who you ask. It is an uber-efficient form of cardio and I love it.

Its a class they have at Lucille Roberts. I take it every tuesday, Its great! Its a combination of cardio & strength exercises & I've heard its great for toning up and trimming fat off of your body.0

It stands for High Intensity Interval Training. It means working really hard for a while, then working a little slower, then working really hard again in intervals. It's great training. I do Turbo Fire which incorporates it in the workouts but you can do it on the treadmill, ellipitcal, etc. Just have to push to your maximum.0

Its High Intensity Interval Training; the idea is your body continues to burn calories after your done working out Their really short workouts 45-60 seconds but SUPER intense. Im currently doing Turbo Fire and they are a part of that workout set.0 -

I practice hiit running and spinning and I love it both ways. Fast and effective.

HIIT will increase your metabolism for hours after you do it. There are multiple variations of the on/off schedule (that vary from 4 seconds to 4 minutes either way!) but one of the most popular is the Tabata Method. 20 seconds at high intensity followed by 10 seconds at low intensity.
Keep in mind that HIIT is a VERSION of Interval Training. This isn't "20 seconds jog then 10 seconds walk". This is "20 seconds sprinting as hard as you can then 10 seconds walk". This is the kind of intensity that makes people who eat before throw up. You should be WIPED from doing it.

I just started a treadmill routine using the HIIT philosophy this morning. I feel AMAZING! I am anxious to see the results!0
