best stretches for running ?

Hi I have just finished week 1 of c25k. I was hoping one of you could advise (and describe how ) which stretches I should do before and after to prevent injury. I weigh 189lb and concerned that a a larger lady I will hurt myself if I dont do this properly

    hahaha If you're 189 lbs, you're not a larger lady. I think that's hilarious. I was 180 when I started running, so I think you'll be fine. Go to active.com and search "shin splints" and do the stretches they advise in one of the articles. Those always helped me from getting tight calves and shin splints before I ran. Now I run on a treadmill and only stretch after I do my strength training (which is never on days I run) and I don't have shin splints or have to stretch before I run. If you're outside, you definitely need to stretch beforehand, though.
