Fast Food Calorie Counts

I am super thankful for Fast Food restaurants in California ( and maybe elsewhere?) recently being required to actually print the calorie count on the menu next to the item even on the drive thru menu. My husband asked me to get him Bakers for lunch and one look at the menu told me I would wait until I got home and make my own lunch. The other day he wanted popeye's and I was pleasantly surprised to find their jambalaya bowl only had 220 Calories ( although lots of sodium) and enjoyed getting that when I got his lunch.

Hubby works from home so when I am on spring break he gets tired of pb & j, hot dogs and turkey sandwiches and asks me on my way home from the gym a couple days a week to pick him up something. Calorie listings are totally helping with my restraint to order myself something.

I agree! I'm not sure if this is the case everywhere yet, as I am also in California, but I've been seeing more and more places (McDonald's, Starbucks, Subway, IHOP, etc.) putting the calories right on the menu next to the prices.

Hooray for being able to make informed decisions!

talk to me when fast food places start using real meat again. Taco Bell (a former staple of mine), uses 30% meat and 70% OTHER. I am grateful that nutrition is being posted now, but ingredients are still a concern for me.

I am from Canada and in my area I have not seen this. I was in New York a few months ago and was at The Olive Garden in TIme Square, I didn't notice it at first and picked out something that sounded interesting to me. My friend said, "Oh yea, you picked that because it is the lowest things in calories on the menu".. I was please that I had picked something that was low in calories.. I know that you can look up the calorie count on things from the website but that only works if you have time to do that.. I would love for them to put the calorie counts on the menu's here in Canada also. That was we can make wise choices if we want to.
