I have gained 11lbs in about 7days. I just got back from visiting with my family for 4 days, and Ive gained 10lbs just in those 4 days!! Is that possible???? I wasnt really watching what I was eating but we went for a HUGE hike and I ran up most the hills... I walked places as well... But I guess that wasnt enough!! I know some is water weight and some has not been "released" yet haha but 11lbs.. seriously??:grumble:

I'm worried I'm going to join this club - we were camping over the weekend and I was less strict on myself than I'd planned. I'm going to try not to weigh in for a few days since I'm sure I had more sodium which makes a difference to me, and more bread products which definitely make a difference!! Back at it hard this week though... we can do it!

Well, it takes 3500 EXTRA calories over and above your maintenance weight to gain 1 pound, which means you would have had to consume

38,500 EXTRA CALORIES ABOVE YOUR MAINTENANCE WEIGHT! to gain 11 pounds in that timeframe and

35,000 EXTRA CALORIES ABOVE YOUR MAINTENANCE WEIGHT to gain 10 pounds in 4 days.

Possible? Maybe but I seriously doubt it!

It's probably almost all water weight, especially if you didn't watch your salt intake during that time.

Give it a few days, drink plenty of water, and see what happens.

It was 3 lbs in 2 days for me this past weekend while we visited my sister. Had some great seafood though. I will definately be getting back to the grind since that same sister is getting married the end of August and I am her maid of honor. Just going to think of it as a small set back but not one that is going to stop me on my weight loss journey.

I did the same thing a week ago. It was also my TOM, so the scale was really torking me off. But, I hit the gym and drank lots of water and low and behold, I had only gained two pounds

    Only.

Someone not long ago was talking about 'apple cidar vinegar'? I think that is was they said. Maybe look up the discussion on that and try it. Supposedly it gets rid of the water gain.

So does pure cranberry juice (look in the organic aisle at your local grocer. Just Cranberry is the best) diluted 1 unit to four units of water. Helps to add some lemon, seeing as it is pretty tart. Watch the cals though!! And drink a ton of water with it, or you wil regret it!
  • I would say you're dealing with maybe gaining a couple, added water weight (depending on the time of month???) and maybe having added some muscle which does weigh more than fat so...don't panic too much.

YEAH! Well, I was planning on not weighing in for about a week just in case I'd gained a bunch of water weight, but I decided to "keep it real" this morning and weigh in. Last week I'd shown a drop of around 2.5lbs but didn't want to record it until I saw that number again. I sure didn't expect to see it TODAY, but boy was I excited when it came up!!! Nice present for after a fab long weekend - breaking my plateau officially!!

I DID gain at least 3 but... the scale says other wise. and I entered everything even knowing how bad it would look.... SO I dont know how to explain it... When I left on the second i was at 242, I am at 252 right now i have been home one week. SO I DONT KNOW HOW TO EXPLAIN IT... UGH.....

    1) Scale could be broken
    2) water weight
