I need some Clarification

I am a bit confused about the calorie goals. Should I aim to get 1270(which is my daily goal) in food alone, or should it 1270 after to exercise. My mom use to lose her hair when she ate only 900 calories a day and her exercise plan was 8 miles of walking.
This is how I have been doing it, I ate 1600 calories yesterday and did 500 calories in exercise.
I am additionally frustrated because I have plateaued at 19 pounds.

Ive spoken to a nutritionist friend of mine about this and she said as long you should still eat the full calories allowance to ensure after exercise you have still had the minimum calories intake into your body.
eg mine is 1260 per day, so if I do 300 calories worth of exercise, i should eat those 300 calories additionally ideally so that my body is still getting the minimum 1260 calories to avoid my body going into starvation mode and storing fat if I eat below 1260!

You're doing it right. If your daily goal is 1270, that is without exercise calories.0

Thanks, I thought that I was on the right path. I have had to start snacking at night to get my minimum calories back. I just hope this plateau is temporary, I am starting to second guess of everything.0
