Looking to loose it in San Francisco

Hi all,

I just joined MFP this past week and have been lurking around and have really found this site to be very helpful and informative. Living in California and specfically here in San Francisco as a big guy has been daunting to say the least. I can't join my friends on their 5-10 mile daily runs nor bike from SF to LA, or hike up in the mountains and I've decided I really need to take control of myself and life.

Most of my friends are rather fit, so is my partner, and it's been hard for them to understand where my life has been. However after lurking around the message boards I've been really inspired that I truely amd not alone.

So in the past few weeks I've done a few things to regain my life. First, I promised myself that I can do this and that I'm worth the time and energy. Second, I researched and hired a personal trainer and bought 30 one-hour sessions with him. I also joined a gym that is not so crowded and lets me get a real full workout without having to stand in line for equipment. I also met with my doctor to make sure I am healthy enough to begin this and set up a check in with him. Also I joined MFP to help me track what I'm doing so I can see what is working and what's not. And lastly, I've decided to post this and put myself out there.

I realize that I can't do this alone, so if anyone ever has any tips for me, or if you need encouragement, or just need to vent, I'd love to help. Thanks for reading.

Cheers,
Larry

    Hi Larry,

Well, you've made a great start and joining MFP is great! I have found everyone to be super supportive, pushy when I need it, consoling when I need it too!!!

    Baby steps and be patient!!!!

    Welcome!

Welcome Larry to the MFP family. We are all here for the same reason so never feel bad or ashamed to ask questions about anything. We are helpers one to another. Good luck on your journey and I know you can do it. Make sure you apply what you learn so that you are successful. Stay focused, stay focused, stay focused because it is so easy to get side tracked. If you fall, get back up and keep going and whatever you do don't stop trying.
