Hi! I'm 5 ft 7, 127 pounds - female, 18 yrs old and my goal weight is 119 pounds.
I have 8 weeks..
I've been eating 1200 calories a day and trying to burn off 700 cals at the gym 4-5 times a week.
Scales haven't changed for just over a week now.
Arrgh.?

You're not eating enough
Not to mention, depending on the amount of muscle you have, that weight might not even be possible for you.0 -

At your height and a weight of 119 you are 1 point away from being underweight...is that what you want?0 -
I'm new here, so I'm no expert, but you could be putting your body into starvation mode with the calorie restriction added to the large calorie burn. Try eating more calories if you are going to burn that much in exercise and add in lean protein too, like maybe protein bars or shakes.0

While it may seem counterproductive to eat more, you need to eat more Also, try zig zagging your calories...a higher cal day, lower day the next, back up higher the following day. Just a suggestion...0

Why in the world do you want to be that skinny? That sounds too skinny to me. You are tall, you should look good at 127 lbs. Do you lift weights? If you are not happy at 127, maybe add weight lifting to add some muscle & shape? 1,200 calories is starving yourself. You have to feed all of your organs, including your brain. Good luck to you.0

To be blunt (please try not to take this too harshly) - I think people are not responding to your post because they may feel that your goals are unrealistic. You are 5'7" and already only 127 pounds? And you want to *lose* weight? Why? You are right exactly where you should be according to the height/weight charts if you havev a small frame. If you have anything other than a small frame, you are already underweight. (And keep in mind that those charts in and of themselves seem to put people lower than they really should). Please don't diet. Please stay as you are.0

Agreed, eat!0

I'm your height, and I would KILL to be your weight. 127 is on the low side of your healthy range. Why mess with perfection?0

To add to this... I'm also 5'7 and my goal weight is 145-150. That's with a 20% body fat... like I said, if you have ANY muscle on you at all, you should not weigh any less than this. I also agree with what someone else said that you might want to look into toning up if you're not happy with your body. Toning up can thin you out and make everything tighter, it's a great option.0 -
Thanks for advice guys,
I take protein shakes (maxitone sculptress) and when i say gym - i run 10k at 9.5kmph and do weights. i have msucle on my legs etc but my stomach and love handles are eurgh lol. 8.7 has always been a target for me which i've never been able to reach cos I love food too much!0 -
at 5'7 and 127 pounds you seem fine to me. I believe that is health. So to answer your question though you need to eat more. Get up to 1500 cals and eat 6 meals a day. Find healthier foods to eat. It looks like you run enough so you just need to get your diet in check0

I can't imagine that you truly have love handles. Perhaps you should see a nutritionist.0 -
I am 5'5" and weigh 126. While I don't look sickly, there is little besides skin over my ribs and back. Maybe my legs could be a little thinner, but they are also very muscled. Maybe my lower stomach could be a little thinner, but it probably won't be. I'm not saying this to complain (I LOVE my body), but I'm saying that even if I tried to lose more weight, it probably wouldn't do much for my overall look, and would likely result in my looking too thin. If you have 8 weeks, use them to do a bunch of exercise and strength training. Put your calories to maintainance (or if you must be at a deficit, make it .5lbs). The improvements I've seen in my muscles since I stopped losing and switched to maintaining are awesome. You can change things about your body in 8 weeks, but it should be the result of a number on a scale.
Good luck.0 -
WOW.... @ 5'7" 127 lbs sounds awesome to me!!! Good luck in tryihng to get down below 120, but that honestly sounds unhealthy. I would measure your BMI and go on that because your body style may not allow you to get that light in weight. You DO NOT want to be underweight ESPECIALLY for a woman because that causes alot of hormonal problems!!!0

Have you been working out for a while, or did you just start? I bet if you just eat healthy and get some cardio and weights like you are doing, in a couple months you'll be toned up and get rid of any squishiness you may not like. I bet you don't really need to lose weight, just tone up and get rid of a little fat here and there with exercise.
I'm 5'2" (with shoes on), and I weigh 124 right now. It's been hell to try to lose any weight at all (though I was 115 pounds in college). My goal is actually 118 now and that would be pretty thin for me, so I think for 5'7" it might be VERY slim.0 -
I'm in the same boat as you honey. Same height, same weight, same daily calorie goal. We probably have the same love handles. Mine just got bigger recently because I was on vacation for 2 weeks. I gained nearly 10lbs during vacation...even with some strenuous mountain climbing. I don't exercise. I actually rely on my job to keep in shape. I walk at least 6-10 miles/day in the warehouse and am always lifting heavy cases and pushing a 2-500lb cart of metal hardware and lugging around 700-1k pallets around. After my full first week back to work I am BACK down to 127 from 140 (on the 1200 calorie limit...which I exceeded a couple of times)
I have to agree with the girl who mentioned toning. I am toned EVERYWHERE except my midsection...which I think is giving me a huge complex...so I have been keeping my core tight while at work and have actually noticed a difference.
Also, the daily thing says you have a 40g fat intake daily goal...screw that! I only eat like 20g on avg. FAT FREE EVERYTHING! I think it has less to do with calories and more to do with fat intake. Nix the chips & cheese yo.0
