So my first 5k is a week from today. Yesterday I ran the trail for the first time where the 5k is going to be. I started having ankle pain just as I was finishing my run. Today it is really painful. What should I be doing? I don't want to miss my first 5k

Is this just like a packed dirt or gravel trail, or is it real 'trail running', meaning you're on very uneven surfaces, jumping over treee roots, etc.?
For true trail running, you usually need a different shoe that gives you more lateral stability.
Take anti-inflammatories round the clock for the next few days and periodically ice the ankle. If it doesn't start to improve, you need to see your doctor.0

it is like packed dirt and shell. Its the first time I ran it. I have been running on a treadmill. Then I went outdoors to a paved trail and then this trail. I am going to take today off from running.0
