swollen ankles

I started fitness training New Years Day. I use my Bowflex machine 3 times a week and walk 5 miles a day five times a week on my treadmill. I've been up to 5 miles on the treadmill for a couple of weeks now and recently discovered that I can burn an extra 100 calories in the same amount of time if I use an incline of 2.5 instead of no incline.
The problem is, I've noticed significant swelling in my ankles since stepping up the incline. WebMD says it's to be expected when you walk a lot but if it persists, get it checked out.
My question is, do I push through it or back off a bit and maybe only incline 2 or 3 days a week? Incline the days I use the bowflex or the two days in between? I'm tempted to push through it but when I pushed to get to 5 miles a day I ended up with blistered feet...

There can be a number of reasons your ankles swell. It might be your body isn't used to exercise or it could be your sodium is a little high causing your body to cling to the water rather than release it. Or it could be something medical. I really don't think the incline should make a difference with swelling. Good luck with figuring it out and let us know what you figure out.
I just looked at your diary and your sodium for yesterday was about 1,000 mg over whats recommended. I was having that problem... so I started pre planning my menu for the day adjusting where I needed to, to get the sodium down. It really made a difference. Currently the USDA is around 2,500, but the government is planning on lowering that to 1,500. For me I feel my best when my sodium is between 1,500 and 1,800. But everyone is different so try playing with it and see what feels best for you. I predict you will lose 2 or 3 pounds of water once you get this adjusted... but it will probably take a couple days.0
