Hi

Just wondering if anyone takes any kind of oil blend as a supplement- I've just started taking Udo's Choice Oil (http://www.udoschoice.co.uk/) - its a miracle worker but very very hard to stomach (esp if it repeats on you) - think cod liver oil but 10 times worse!! I've taken it on and off for a couple of years and when you take it, the difference is just amazing!! :)

Anyway- its obviously pure oil, so should I count it against my daily calorie allowance- which is 1200 cals? I struggle to stay within this allowance most days and not feel starving ....and 2 tablespoons of the oil is 243 cals which is a fair bit of my daily allowance gone- however it is all 'good for you' fats which the food diary doesnt distinguish between!

Any advice would be appreciated!
Thanks!

I take an Omega 3-6 blend - Genestra Brand "Super EFA" , made from Salmon, Sardine, and Cod. I take two teaspoons a day, at 40 cals each. I HAVE to buy the type infused with orange oil, and then I mix it into an ounce of orange juice, and do it like a shot! Quick and painless!

243 calories is a lot! Wow! (I would want to eat those cals - but power to you!). Is there a way you could take a smaller dose and still reap the benefits? My Naturopathic doctor thought that 2 teaspoons a day was enough for me. For the flax, you could also grind the seeds to get them in a different way, and then you also get the good fibre!

I used to take the raw oil (with orangy taste) while I was pregnant. I used to do it as a shot too. Now, my homeopathic doctor has put me on two (they are pretty big) pills of the Super EPA by Thorne. They are about 20 calories and 2 grams of fat. You don't taste them at all.

    Good luck!

I buy a gel pill and take it. I take it at bedtime with my vitamen because if i take either one in the morning, it tastes awful for hours. at least if im asleep, i dont notice it :)

    Another side note...
Thorne products are also great! I think that when it comes to oils, the quality is very important, and it is worth spending the extra money. Udo's and Genestra are also high quality brands.
