Decaffeinated Green Tea?

The last time I lost a lot of weight I found green tea incredibly helpful. I don't know if it actually did much besides making me feel full, but regardless, I'd like to drink it again.

The problem: now, four years later, I take a prescription medication called Dexedrine (in the same group of drugs as Ritalin) and I'm a little wired and have a hard time falling asleep as it is; caffeine is the last thing in the world that I need. Is decaffeinated green tea as good as caffeinated for the purposes of dieting, or is it inferior for whatever reason?

Thanks!

Truthfully, green tea cannot be decaf. It's the nature of the tea plant. If it is real green tea (and not some kind of powdery substitute) it won't come in a decaf version (same as real black tea).
  • Ack! That sucks. So what is the stuff they sell labeled as decaffeinated green tea? It's not a powder, it's leaves - are they just calling some other kind of tea decaff. green tea?

Probably... I don't relaly trust packaging too much. I did a bit of culinary training in college and took a beverage course and all tea leaves have caffeine in them. My guess is that it's just a marketing thing to get people to buy it

I have been drinking "Green Tea Tropical" by MYT Leaf. It is lightly caffeinated and so good! It is my go to thing to keep me from going over my calories.
  • Oh, that sounds great! May I ask where you buy it? I googled, but couldn't find it (mind you I'm the worst googler ever, I can never find anything  ).

Their website is www.mightyleaf.com and it will give you locations to buy ro you can get it cheaper on the site. It has slight hint of pineapple and mango. It is really yummy.
  • Thank you! It looks delicious, and there's a store 6.7 km from me that sells it, so that's good motivation to multi-task and walk down for the exercise. ;)
