Not in a day, per se.... but drinking 2 gallons in an hour can kill you. Literally.... A woman did this for a radio call-in contest to win concert tickets and died later that day. It's called hyponatremia.0

Yes...but it's very rare. You can look it up. It's mostly infants and athletes that have this problem. And if you're drinking alot spread out throughout the day...then I wouldn't worry. The issue is when too much (an extreme amount) is drank in a very short period of time. From what I have read, it's because it drops your blood sodium level.0

I knew the story abou the radio contest. I guess what I really mean is when will it become a factor in weight loss/gain. Right now I drink about 10-12 glasses a day but didn't know if I need to increase or decrease my intake!0

I'd say you're right were you should be. 80 - 100 oz a day, throughout the day is perfect.0

I have doubled my water intake from 8 to 16 glasses and I feel better for it. I am seeing positive results on the scale too.0

That's probably good enough. I shoot for a gallon per day. But I'm breastfeeding and need extra fluids. But my doc said it's not bad to shoot for that intake even when I'm not preg/breastfeeding.
1 gallon = 128 oz = 16 - 8 oz glasses0 -
I also drink 10-12 cups/day. You should be fine. I've felt great so far.
Bonus: it's helping me minimize puffiness from sodium which I still struggle to keep low.0 -

The best indicator that you're getting the right amount of fluid is what color your urine is. If it's orangey in color than you're not drinking enough, if it's light yellow then you are drinking enough. Sometimes mine is almost clear because I drink a lot throughout the day. That's the key too, spreading it out. I hope that helps! Good luck!!0 -
im on about 14 glasses and have def noticed a difference0

^^^Agree. I drink 14 - 15 cups a day and I have noticed my skin has improved alot(smoother where it is usually like sandpaper on the back of my hands and my wrists). The more water you drink, the less your body retains and the better all the fluid transfer systems work. Better transfer of minerals to where they need to go and better removal of toxins, etc.0 -
I drank two gallons of water in a day for two days in a row and than got spooked by water intoxiation and not to mention the fact that I couldn't go too far from the bathroom lol. I now drink about a gallon...0

I don't think drinking flavored water is "bad" necessarily but sometimes they have sodium in them...I used to dislike the taste of plain tap water so I started cutting the flavored water into half flavored, half plain...took me about a week to get used to it and actually enjoy the taste...I still prefer water with fresh lemon or lime.0 -

Agreed, I was never much of a water drinker, but with a slice of lemon I can drink water all day.0 -
I don't think you can drink too much water.
Water intoxication only happens if you don't pee the water out.

When I was on Weight Watchers a few years back the instructor there showed us a study that for healthy weight loss you should drink an extra glass for every 20-30lbs you're overweight on top of your 8 per day!If I remember correctly it had something to do with carrying around the extra weight and your body needed it to support the extra mass or something like that!0

Sodium is one of the worst things for me also. Thats why I picked up the water intake0 -
I've been told by my wellness coach, a dietitian, and an herb specialist not to drink more than 100 oz a day unless it's some super special mineral water. If you drink more than that, you're going to flush out important nutrients and minerals that your body needs.0

I don't mind at all.. Also I add a protein powder mix to my water sometimes and I also use lemon. Good luck!!0 -
I've heard half your body weight in ounces. I usually drink 12-16 glasses a day. I'm 183lbs.0
