Hey everyone!!!

So yesterday was the first time I worked out in ages and I overdid it (worked out for 2 hours on treadmill and elliptical) had an awesome calorie burn of over 850 cals :drinker: But now I'm dyinggg...I can barely move, my legs are just f*cked (sorry for the language), and I ended up getting blisters on my toes....

Does anyone have any advice for what to do regarding the aches and soreness in addition too the blisters??? And btw don't say don't pop them cuz I already did =o/ I know I know, not good but I've done it since I was a kid just such a habit. So now that they're popped what can I do to help them heal??? It sucks cuz now I can't go work out again without making it worse.

Also any tips/advice for PREVENTING this kind of aftermath of pain and blisters???

Would greatly appreciate anything and everything you've got to say on the matter

Thanks!

Bacitracin or neosporin come to mind. Maybe a hot soak with Epsom salt? Feel better hun.

Soak in a hot bath with epsom salts.

Blisters...let air hit them as much as you can to dry them out.
When you have to wear something: medicated ointment (Neosporin or something of the sort), cover with bandaids/bandages and then, cover that with moleskin (available at pharmacies). You'll be able to wear just about anything then. :)

    Good luck!!

    Epsom salts for sure...

Hot tub or whirlpool if the gym has one...

It sounds like you got in an amazing work out but since you say you're just getting back into it...maybe drop it down just a notch to prevent serious injury...I have done the elliptical and nordictrack for an hour before and found that my feet were absolutely NUMB when I was done...that was a little scary...and you don't want to be too sore to walk tomorrow...been there done that. OUCH>

and make sure you stretch well AFTER the work out...learned that one the hard way ;)

Soak in a hot bath with epsom salt, possibly some advil or alieve for the sore muscles and 2nd skin with mole skin over top for the blisters (I play soccer and get blisters all the time - I pop them too;).
  • YOU MUST CHILL! LOL...

Seriously...take it easy, you're just starting back out. Give your body time to adjust...and if you have access to a whirlpool or wet area with steam and sauna, over-use that instead. :) I used to swear by spending like an hour in the gym's wet area after every workout. It just makes everything better. :)

IcyHot is great for sore muscles too. I put it on my legs at night so I can fall asleep!

Oh ya, and to prevent it... lots of stretching before and after your workout, drink lots of water, and listen to your body - don't over-do it. As for the blisters... make sure you're wearing good shoes that fit well (they shouldn't rub or have pinch points) - if you can afford it, buy 1 really good pair of shoes at a reputable store that will test how you walk/run - seriously worth the investment, they feel like slippers!

Potassium helps with soreness so eat a lot of bananas. Other than that, the best prevention is just to keep conditioning your body. I bet if you do that same routine in a few days you will notice much less effects afterward (although, I'm thinking 2 hours of intense workout might be a bit of overkill unless you're going for Biggest Loser weight loss). Keep your blisters covered to reduce chance of infection. Also, I find that wearing 2 pairs of socks helps prevent blisters.

Thanks to every1 for ur tips and advice...will try an epsom salt bath 2nite and look for moleskin when I get a chance to get to the store (hoping it's not expensive)

As far as shoes go I have no money for new ones right now, and sadly the ones I've been using are New Balance ones which were reccomended by my orthopedic doctor and I got them at a place that fit my for them along with a somewhat pricey insert. So obviously those people didnt know what they were doing :frown:
