I'm doing the 30 Day Chalene challenge on how to meet your goals, and my assignment is to interview someone who has successfully met the same goal as me.
My goal is to improve my health (eating right and exercising daily - Insanity to be specific) so that I can meet all of my other goals in life, such as being happy, setting a good example for my children, inspiring others, becoming a therapist, etc!
I want to hear from people who have made it to their goal weight! How did you do it? How long did it take? What did you do when you fell off the wagon? Who inspired you? Do you have before and after pics - please post them!! :)
PLEASE TELL ME YOUR STORY! :) Help to inspire me (and others I'm sure) and help me reach my goals simply by telling your story!
THANK YOU in advance for sharing!

I've more than met my goal. A few years ago I was over 200 pounds and dreamed of some day hopefully getting down to maybe 160 again. But once I started to understand how my body works and what I needed to do to lose weight, I was able to drop that goal to 122 pounds. Recently dropped a bit below that even just with good nutrition, proper portion sizes, and exercise, but I'm fit and healthy and would be tickled to lose just one more pound and then try to hold steady.

You're welcome to check my profile pics and my diary is open if you want to look through it. =)

I started this because My blood test had me with a bad cholesterol of 165 (total 223), high blood pressure, sugar, etc. I am 5' 9" and weighed around 195. I never thought I was "fat" but the Doctor pointed out my risk factors and said I was .1 from obese. I am 52 years old and have been raising my kids alone for 15 years (3 of them ha) so I spent most of the time working and worrying about my kids. I checked in at web md but even though my bmi was high they had me at a healthy body shape so I was confused. I look around and 9 out of 10 people have some indication of over weightness so I'm not so bad right? (rhetorical) anyway just got my new bloodwork back. I am at 176.8 lbs as of today, my bad cholesterol is 74.6 and my risk factor for heart attach is now 3.9 or considered low. Using MFP is an extremely good tool since it has the android app and allows me to check in frequently. I post my results on Facebook and I have at least 3 family and friends who have started the plan based on my results.

I'll definitely check out your page today! :)
  • Well, I weighed in at 217 lbs in January of 2009. That was my wake-up call.
    How did you do it?

I joined a local health club, and completely changed my lifestyle. I gave up dieting. Instead, I adopted healthy living.
    How long did it take?

9 months. End weight was 119, which made me look way too thin, so now I just maintain under 130.
What did you do when you fell off the wagon?

I got back on. It is natural to have temptation and to fall off the wagon sometimes; you just have to get back on.
Also, looking at the before pictures quickly made me get right back on track.
    Who inspired you?

My fellow club and class members.
The idea of being lean and looking good.
    My former trainers.
    My friends.
    Myself.
Do you have before and after pics - please post them!! :)

I have one among my profile pics. :) It's the third one from the left when you open my profile pics. I don't know how to add images here. :(
