Okay, so I have P90X and love it. I really like the workouts but they WEAR ME OUT! I don't have the time or energy to double up and do runs too. But running is my first love and I miss it when I'm doing P90X. So my thinking is... I run 3 days a week and do the P90X Chest & Back, Shoulders & Arms, and Legs & Back on the days in between. Of course, Ab ripper will be in there too. So I would sorta be customizing it so I can get my runs in too. Any thoughts? Will I completely ruin my results by altering the program, or am I over thinking this?

I would say you are over thinking it. Exercise is exercise!

Sub out plyo x and Kenpo cardio for running.

Trying to do P90X to the letter and trying to run 3 days a week is recipie for injury on my opinion.

My thinking (and I have done this personally) is to sub in your running on the P90X cardio days. Day 2, 4 and 6. Otherwise follow the plan.

Not at all! I usually only do 2 of P90x workout (chest/back & shoulder/arms), and anything but P90x in between. You pick just the best out of all the p90x workout in my opinion. Just make sure you are eating right (a balanced diet, I wouldn't suggest you go by their super high protein diet). Have fun with it.

I sub runs for kenpo sometimes (I do like it more than I thought I would so if it's a choice between treadmill running and kenpo, I choose kenpo - good weather I'd rather be outside), plyo just about always, sometimes for cardio X. For yoga days, sometimes I'd do Tony's half hour yoga DVD and do a run earlier in the day.
  • I am actually going to start doing this same thing. I started out doing P90X and it was/is a workout! But, I also started running again a couple of weeks before I started P90X and I wanted to keep running. So, starting tomorrow I've decided to mix it up. I still like the Kenpo, Cardio X, and Yoga X, too, so I may still do those for days I don't get to run or whatever. But I didn't so much think about it messing up my results. I figured eating clean and healthy as much and as often as possible with some great exercise would provide me with the results I'm working for, and I'd still be able to keep running.
  • HI i just say your post that will be fine Your running will take the place of your cardio days. If you like alter 1 week with running and tape yourself on your measurements then week 2 do the cardio portion look to see which one gives you better results. Plyo is great for working your calf ,glutes and legs . Kempo is great at gettting rid of love handles and loosing that waist line plus its alot of fun. If you would like to ask me any more question feel free to add me as a friend> take care and hope i have helped you:)
  • I got a link from my Beachbody coach about running and Insanity. There was someone in the forum that also does P90x and does the lean version and they are training for a half marathon. I don't know if that helps but if you want more info let me know and I'll get you the info.
