Do BMI calculators factor in muscle?

If I am more muscular and weigh a little bit on the high side of my BMI range, is that okay/healthy? Should I really, really try to get on the lower or even middle range of BMI? OR should I just figure out where my body works the best and looks/feels the best and not worry about BMI calculators?

BMI does not take into account your muscle mass... that is why it is a flawed system

if you are very muscular you can be on the high side of your BMI - there is a BMI for athletes somewhere on the web -

I wouldn't pay attention to the BMI, I would try to find out your Body Fat %, they have scales that do it and aren't too expensive, it's not the most accurate way of measuring body fat, but it will give you a starting point and I would try to be in the healthy range for women. I am not positive what it is, I think 20-25%, you can google it and I am sure a ton of charts will show up. A 5'7" body builder with 8% body fat could be considered obese if he weighs 200 lbs. As the person in the post above says BMI a flawed system

I agree with them... I would considerate more on body fat percentage than BMI. That's what I've been doing is keeping track of Body fat%.
