You can log breastfeeding by typing it into the database. There are quite a few options. The one I use is generic by ounces as I pump and bottle feed as my baby has latch problems. I generally burn around 500 cals a day.0

My BodyBugg does a great job of tracking every single calorie I burn sleeping or waking with the exception of the ones I burn making breastmilk. You can claim 200-500 per day for that according to reference books I checked. If I don't eat enough, she still gets milk but I will be malnourished. That and as we lose weight, we can pass toxic chemicals to our little ones. I waited until my daughter was 3 1/2 years old to really began losing weight. Now I've lost over 80 pounds. There never was a hurry. I can tell you that staying well hydrated and getting enough sleep were way more difficult for me than weight loss.
Have you seen Lauren Brooks' Baby Bells or Ultimate Body Conditioning with Kettlebells? They are awesome for getting moms into better shape than before pregnancy.0 -

Congrats on your new daughter!
I breastfed my kids ( I have 2) till they were 3 years. Weel worth it!! they are now 18 and 20 and incredible!
I know you need to eat extra calories - like 500 - everyday to make enough milk, but I can't figure how to log actual breast feeding as calories burned.
Rocking....maybe not a calorie burner but.....so great for you and baby!
my best to you!

I'd go with 500 if your baby is younger/not eating a lot of other foods right now. I use the 6-12 month infant option since my baby eats a ton of solid foods and is down to 4 nursing sessions, it's only 300 extra cals. According to kellymom the average intake for babies 1-6 months is 25 oz and if you plug that into the database it gives you about 550 extra cals. Just search "breastfeeding" in the food log. There are a few different options.0
