New to MFP, Live in UK, 100lbs to lose!

Hi people.
I'm from the UK, just north of London.
I've always been overweight, I was always the plumper girl at school and it all spiraled out of control once I started college and was able to drive. That's when the secret eating started.
In 2002/03 I did the Lighter Life weight loss plan, and I successfully lost 6st (84lbs), however it only took 6 months to a year to gain it all back. I was devastated, and from that moment on, apart from my local pub, I stopped socialising properly as I was so embarrassed that I'd failed at keeping it off, and was back to being the fat girl.
Just to add another soul destroying issue to the mix, I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), which does contribute to weight gain, but I am not using that as an excuse.
Since I gained the weight back, I have had numerous half arsed attempts at doing the Cambridge Diet. I never really gave it a proper go, as I missed food, and when I ate it was always binge eating.
So to today, I met up with a personal trainer, he talked me out of Lighter Life and Cambridge Diet, and everything he said made perfect sense. I'm now prepared to take control of my eating, rather than mindless eating, and exercise is now just as important as watching what I'm eating. I also understand I need to do strength training rather than just cardio as this will help burn more calories in the long run, but also prevent me from losing lean tissue.
I would love to hear all of your stories, and hopefully help each other along the way.
My journey is going to be a long one, but it will be worth it in the end.

Hi there!
Well done for joining! This place is amazing. I too have over 100lbs to lose and I live about 30 miles North of London, so not too far away! I think the best thing about this site is that I'm not using it as a 'diet' site. It's a 'change your lifestyle' site. Over the past couple of weeks I have been slacking, not doing the exercise I should etc, but I have still been losing weight as I am making healthier choices in what I do eat.
Feel free to add me as a friend xx0 -
We are so happy to have you here! I love having international friends:) I work with a trainer too and have found it to be exceptionally motivating because of the accountability. Plus he makes me do things I might not have thought about (like boxing!). Stick with us here on MFP and you will get what you want:) Kim0
