Struggling with thoughts?

Does anyone else struggle with your thoughts? I constantly think I'm not doing enough. I'm not eating well enough. I'm not working out hard enough.
I can eat under my calorie goal, all whole foods, and work out twice in one day and I will STILL feel like just a phony who isn't really trying! I try to think positively, but it's really hard for me to do when it comes to this.
I have lost 6 pounds in less than 6 weeks, and my goals are set at losing 1 pound a week, so I know that I'm on track. I just can't lose these feelings of never doing enough or doing it good enough!

I think everyone (mostly) struggles with feelings of inadequacy and negativity. I've lost 41 pounds and I STILL look at myself in the mirror and see the same girl I saw all those pounds ago. It's all about our mental state and what we say about ourselves TO ourselves. If we don't THINK positive things we won't SEE positive things.
Keep up your hard work and know that you are doing an excellent job!! And I'll try to remind myself that I'm doing an excellent job too.0 -
You are doing awesome and you should be proud of yourself. It can be hard to not obsess though. Maybe now that you are used to this way of life, you can try to focus on something else, like a new hobbie or clean out a cluttered closet, etc. Maybe set some new fitness goal or try something different and challenging.0

I always feel like its never enough. I know im putting in 100% but then im like it should be 110%. Honestly we all struggle its human instinct to feel that way esspecially being in the position we all here are in. We just want to get the weight off and be healthy. When you really think about it though i remember reading somehwere on this site someone saying " you didnt put the weight on overnight..so why wouyld anyone expect it to come off overnight" it takes time lots of time and lots of hardwork. All you can do it give it your all and want it bad enough for yourself and know your not alone in your battle0

I go through that sometimes too and I feel bad or guilty when I have a rest day BUT>>>>> on the otherhand, I think what the problem is is that when you get into the routine of working out and eating properly you start to realize how easy it seems. I mean, it makes you feel good to exercise and it even becomes easier over time to do it and you don't have to beg your body to get off the couch to do it because now you like it and with the food you feel so good about your choices and you feel healthier because you are eating foods that your body wants.... In this reagard it becomes an easier battle than any of us that were sedentary before (and jealous of the people that did this) realized it would be. I think that is when the mindset comes in that we are not doing enough.
It's like we start to think.... "really? This is all I had to do to get healthy and lose this weight? Crazy!"
You have lost weight....you feel better.... you are doing enough!!0 -
Thanks, Ladies!!! More than anything, it's nice to know that I'm not the only person who struggles with this type of thinking!0

I think most of us on this site can relate to how you are feeling. Most of my issues with food began in my childhood. What I have found works best to fight this is to look at my progress. I haven't moved the weight as fast as I would have liked but I am losing it the healthy way. It's a lifestyle change which includes our thought process. We need to be more positive about ourselves. Quit focusing on the negative. Replace every negative thought with a positive thought and keep moving. Don't stop on your quest to a better healthier life. In order to change our weight, lives and future, when need to change what got us in this situation in the first place. I'm so glad that I found MFP and all my friends. They are all so positive and supportive. Surround yourself with positive friends who support you. Best of luck in your journey.0

ah it's that damn inner voice we all fight with all the time! i've found that telling people about my weight loss and my plans for it (coworkers, family, anyone who will listen ) is such an reinforcement for me You should know that you are doing everything right and doing a fantastic job at it (i know it's hard for you to believe, but we all see it!). Maybe the more you hear it, the more you'll be able to believe it yourself. So brag about your successes. Acknowledge any failures or setbacks then MOVE ON. You've proven that you're committed to this journey and showing great results, so try to stay positive and push through the rough times. There's a light at the end of the tunnel for all of us. For me right now it's still just a very tiny dot of light very far away, but everyday that dot gets a little bit bigger and little bit closer. Keep working at it!0
