How many calories are you eating? How long have you been doing P90X?0

Gained 4 pounds of what? It's always hard to know when weight changes whether it's fat, muscle, or water. Also, how long has it been since the last weigh in?
If you are losing inches, and assumable feeling better, then keep doing what you are doing. It sounds like you are replacing fat with muscle (losing inches), which is great!
So, how long have you been doing p90x and eating well? weeks, months? Check sodium intake for water retention. Also, medicines can affect water retention too (OTC & prescription).0 -
Remember: Muscle weighs more than fat!!! Don't be discouraged. You're gaining muscle if you're exercising right! I gained a little more before i lost weight.0

Are you eating your exersise calories ? Are you drinking enough water? getting enough sleep?

This is just a part of it! please read the link above
Generally someone with a BMI over 32 can do a 1000 calorie a day (2 lbs a week) deficit
With a BMI of 30 to 32 a deficit of 750 calories is generally correct (about 1.5 lbs a week)
With a BMI of 28 to 30 a deficit of 500 calories is about right (about 1 lb a week)
With a BMI of 26 to 28 a deficit of about 300 calories is perfect (about 1/2 lb a week)
and below 26... well this is where we get fuzzy. See now you're no longer talking about being overweight, so while it's still ok to have a small deficit, you really should shift your focus more towards muscle tone, and reducing fat. This means is EXTRA important to eat your exercise calories as your body needs to KNOW it's ok to burn fat stores, and the only way it will know is if you keep giving it the calories it needs to not enter the famine response (starvation mode)
Good luck on your journey0 -
How long have you been doing P90x and following the food plan? It often takes our bodies a few weeks to "catch on" to what we are doing, and results to show up.
p90x is pretty challenging, as I learned (the hard way, of course!) you need to EAT more to LOSE more (clean healthy food), especially when you are doing intensive exercise. You may just need to bump up your calories slightly, everyone reacts so differently that you may just need to do some slight tweaks to your plan.0 -
You're losing inches? This means you are losing weight as well but it hasn't shown up on the scale yet. When you weigh yourself next week the progress will probably register.0

I found this earlier this morning:
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/128737-temporary-weight-gain-explained?hl=weight+gain+after+weight+lifting#posts-1747282
weight gain is normal after weight lifting and/or starting a serious weight lifting routine (P90X is). I gained 3 pounds literally overnight when starting the weight lifting.
You are gaining muscle but burning off fat. And the more muscle mass gain the more fat you burn off through a normal day and sleeping. You can't rely on the scale when weight lifting. Focus on the shape of your body and how your clothes fit. Muscle takes up much less space than fat.
And make sure you are eating enough. You need fuel for that kind of intense workout. I think the baseline calorie intake for it is 1800 calories.0 -
Hi Corrinne, stay positive. The important thing is that you lost inches. P90x is a serious workout and because of it you have been gaining muscle which is more dense then fat so that means that for the time being you will lose inches more than pounds. That does not mean you should stop doing what you are doing. Those muscles are good because they burn surrounding fat, that means the more muscles you get the more fat you will burn and and the smaller you will get. Just hang in there, the inches are what really counts!0

Im having the same problem, i have been doing it for about 16 days, in the 1st 10 i put on 2lb, which i was told could be fat turning to muscle. i have then lost 1.6 but no where near enough for all the fitness and all the water drinking.... I was low on my calories and was struggling to meet the target in the 1st week though, so increased my consumption.
Are you eating enough?
I am going Doctors tomorrow as i seriously think there must be some thing wrong too... I hope he takes me seriously.

Take your scale throw it out the window. If you looked int he mirror and were happy with what you see, people complimented you on how you look, and you fit in the clothes you wanted to fit in you wouldn't care if the scale said 120 or 300. Now I know the scale is a tool but it's just that a tool not the be all, end all. Body Fat %, Measurements, Fitness Test, Ect= Tools to so don't always measure yourself just by 1.0

I am on week 10 of p90x. I have been eating well for lets say 4 months. The p90x tells you to eat 1800 calories, I eat about 1500 and if I go walking or something else I eat more. As for inches I have lost 23 total, so yes I know its great but man that stupid scale needs to move!!!! I'm sorry, usually I don't post about feeling bad, i always try to stay up beat but the scale hasn't dropped in 5 weeks! Actually its gone up!0

Are you doing Classic or Lean? I was 180 and eating 1800 calories and lost 25 lbs doing Lean (I ate 2400 doing Classic and only lost 5 lbs the first 90 days). I think you need to eat at least 1800 calories. Are you following the ratios in the front of the book or the ratios set in MFP?0

Check the ratios on page 2 and set those ratios in MFP (start with the Fat Shredder phase). I was eating according to the portion plan the first 90 days, but when I switched to the ratios and tracking on MFP, I saw that results that I was looking for.0
