What do others do?

I know that this subject has been asked over and over again. But once again I have to ask it.
I just walked on my treadmill for 75 minutes, on a one incline going between 3 and 3.3 . My treadmill does
not weigh me. It read 683 calories burned, MFP says 487. I understand that MFP is generous with calories also.
I do not have a heart rate monitor and I do hope to get one in the near future, however until then should I put in a lower number
then MFP gives me? Or try to leave a couple of hundred calories not used at the end of the day in case I have over estimated it.
What do others do?

I used to use Self.com's calculator... it was usually a little more accurate than MFP. A hear rate monitor really is the most accurate thing to use. Underestimate for now and plan to get that HRM asap!!

I have always gone with the lower number so to be sure I am not cheating myself!
