Hi everyone, the day has finally come..I have wanted to but resisted thinking it was just too hard, too much work, could not do it, hate to exercise, all the above plus a ton of others. It took me a while to come around but think I am in the right spot mentally now to do it. I have a few obstacles but they are not impossible, I had a knee joint replacement with a lot of complications in Sept. 2009 and I also have been diagnosed with Celiac Disease and had to learn how to deal with that in my diet. I have the gluten free thing down pretty well now and my knee is doing really well so like I said the time has come...I want to lose 20 pounds that I have added since my surgery and I want to do it before October...We are going on a 28 day cruise from LA to Hawaii to Samoa to Tahiti back to LA and I want to feel fabulous and know that my clothes fit like they are supposed to and I look good too. Looking forward to chatting with you and hope to find someone else here that also faces the challenge of eating gluten free. xoxoSissy

    Hi Sissy,

I'm new to this site also - just found it today. I'm not a gluten free eater, but it's something I'd like to move towards because I believe it's healthier. I'm also hoping to move towards being casein free too.

The one thing that I've found about exercise is that you have to make it as easy and as fun as possible. Pick the thing you like doing most even if it's walking or dancing. Another thing that helps me is to not over do it. I've started out so many times and set too high of a goal like working out 5-6 times a day for 45 minutes and then I would just drop the whole thing.

I've found that 30 minutes, 3 times per week is about all I can do right now so I try to stick to that. If I feel inspired, I can do more but I try to stick with the 30 minutes.

I wish you great luck on your goal.

I couldn't agree with you more, I think setting an unreasonable exercise goal is a road to frustration and disaster. Because of my age, almost 69 and with a long history of knee problems I have started on the treadmill at only 15 minutes each time...I will do this 2 or 3 times a week. We also go to the gym to work with resistance weights 2xs a week...I want to add more time to the treadmill gradually as my knees allow. Good luck, to you on your weightloss journey...it is sadly a road I have traveled more times than I like to admit. xo
