Can someone help recommend a beginning workout routine?

I recently joined the y, so I have access to EVERYTHING! Yay!

My current plan is to be hitting up the y: M,W,TH,Sat and possibly sundays or every other sundays

I'm looking into classes and seeing which ones I can fit into my schedule, but I'm planning on swimming laps M, and group cycling class saturdays/sundays

Tuesday and Fridays I'll most likely be walking the neighborhood

I don't know where I'm trying to go with this, but basically I like to have a schedule and guidance, but I'm not sure where to go with all this access to new stuff!

I love the eliptical. It burns a lot of calories in little time.

Well - lets start with the easy stuff... do you still wanna do C25K ...
Because if so that should be your base and your other workouts around that ... what is your number 1 goal and then I can help you!

If you would like to join a class, i would recommend Zumba.

Ok well that is going to be 3 days per week ... I assume you want to run outside, right?
Well that is going to be 3 days you dont go to the gym unless you wanna do double workouts...

So your plan could look like this

    Monday: C25k
Tuesday: Arms and Back and 20-30 minutes of cardio (elliptical or treadmill walking)
    Wed c25k
Thursday: Chest and Legs and Cardio
    Friday: c25k
Saturday ... some class at the YMCA?
    Sunday rest day

    Thanks Emma :) You're fabulous :)
  • Maybe you should try circuit training... Going from cardio to strength and back again several times. That way you will build muscle and cadio endurance but it wont be TOO tough starting out
