Hi! I use a treadmill for 40 minutes a morning, start at 3.6 miles per hour and work my way up to 4.0 for the last few minutes. I do the hill program walkng. It goes up from a 3.0 incline to 7 and back down again. Does anyone else do this and am I on the right exercise track?

that is awesome! what you are doing is perfect. vary it from day to day to ensure your body doesnt get used to your routine.

I am no expert but have read up on exercise a lot and have a good friend who is a trainer.
He told me the 1st 20 minutes are for your heart and the 2nd 20 minutes are for you to loose fat...meaning 40 min should be minimum time.
The most important thing is your heart rate. If i went 4.0 i would burst into flames!
The most recent info on heart rate is that your range should be 70-80 % of your highest range. you can figure the high by subtracting your age from 220. for me my high is 173. I shoot for 150.

    I hope this helped.:flowerforyou:

I found this web site which gives you a good idea of the calories burned in different exercises.
