calorie counting watches don't really work any better than estimating on here... they're pretty much a huge waste of money, with the exception of the "bodybugg" because in order to know how many calories you're burning you need to know your bodys hydration levels, how much sodium you're expelling, your heart rate, etc etc and a watchy simply cannot calculate all of these things. It just bases it on your weight and how much you're moving which is no more than a simple pedometer does.
better investment? timex heartrate monitor. the most accurate monitors have a chest band and don't have the option not to use them. as long as you're working within a zone of over 130 and under 165 you're burning fat -- over 165 your body cannot convert fat into energy as quickly as you need it so it takes some from calories.0 -
Umm I'm not sure about the BS the person above me is talking about but the Polar FT4 is great and less pricey. I get very accurate results. The ratings on amazon for the body bug are not all that great....0

I use a Garmin FR60, but Garmins can be pretty pricey as well. Timex makes a comparable model and you can get them at academy for around $60-$70...but whatever you get, be sure it has the chest strap.0
