Ok so i started off as 142lbs (10 stone 2)... I am now just over 9 stone 8 so ii thought i had lost 7-8lbs.

However.... when converting 9 stone 8 to pounds online (google) it says 138lbs which means i have only lost 4 lbs (yet on a calculator, multiplying 9 by 14 and adding 8 it says 134lbs...yay.... but online (google) says 134lbs is just over 9 stone 5.. booo).....

am i being really thick?!!!!!

Hope my explanation hasn't confused people lol!!!

    hi 9 stone 8 is as you say 134lbs doing 9*14 +8.
The answer your getting with google is saying 9.57 stone as in just over 9 and a half stone which is still correct

    hope ive explained ok lol

    You started at 10 stone 2 which is (10*14) + 2 = 142lbs.
    You're now 9 stone 8 which is (9*14) + 8 = 134lbs, so an 8lb weight loss.

As Neonpink says, Google's giving you wholes stones and a fraction of a stone, not stones and pounds

Yes... when you get a decimal number - you have to multiply the decimal with 14 - so 0.57 x 14 = 7.98

It's the unit of weight we use in the UK... each stone equals 14 lbs

We UKers tend to talk in stones and pounds, rather than just pounds alone. So I tell people "Oh yes at the start of December I was 11 stone 5, and now I'm down to 10 stone 4!"

The second figure is pounds. So 10 stone 4 is 10 stone plus 4 pounds - 10 lots of 14 pounds (140 lbs) plus another 4 = 144 lbs.
