I eat a lot of whole wheat pasta with a basil pesto sauce on it, usually at night (around 8). I can't help that, I don't get off work till 7. It's a quick easy meal. Most of the time, I work out that night for about 30 mins. So I do burn some calories before bed. Just read someone elses post and it made me think. What's the best time of day to eat carbs?

I've been advised by my trainer to avoid carbs after lunch, especially in the evening. Carbs are fuel but realistically in the evenings, particularly before bed we don't require the amount of energy given to us by carbs.

I have also been told to avoid carbs after lunch.. but I don't really do it. At the same time I don't eat large amounts of pasta/breads/rice anyways.

It might be an option to make something you can heat up rather than pasta if its hurting your weight loss at all.

If I understand you correctly, you get off work at 7, have a meal of whole wheat pasta with sauce and then workout? If that's the case, that's not bad. I've read many books and the one thing they all agree on is to have complex carbs prior to a workout. The complex carbs will fuel your workout.

That being said, I would suggest adding a chicken breast to your pasta as a source of protein. No matter what meal, you should always have a lean protein and complex carb together. Eating a lean protein with complex carbs slows the rate at which the carbs are absorbed. This minimizes the spike of insulin from the carbs.

Thanks for the advice... I'll try to cut them out at night.
