Ever been set up. I'm slow on the uptake it seems

Just realized this after it occurred 7 years ago. Wow am I slow!! I was handed a key out of the blue to a safe. A safe with nothing of value in it and was in a room with a locked door. In fact they later moved it to a room that they kept open. I had to keep my drawer key at work because the controller said she may need to get into it. So I told her where I kept the key. It was apart from the safe key. Now I'm not sure about the rest. Maybe I forgot to lock it one night before leaving for work. But the next day I couldn't find my drawer key.

Then on the next day there was an elaborate message posted in my cubicle. It was laminated. Someone had taken an enormous amount of time to cut letters from the Wall Street Journal as well. It was full of pictures and symbols. Then I got a mild chewing out by the Controller. The guy that posted the elaborate message had no reason to know about the key. Yet he knew! He told several others as well.

If it's been so long why do I bring this up now? I kept the elaborate message posted on my computer room wall for years as a reminder to be diligent in my responsibilities. Then yesterday I was going out to lunch with my son and glanced at the posting, admiring the clever artwork, and the detailed graphics. Then thinking that must have taken some time. Click, lights on. I was setup!!! This was planned from the beginning. They knew where my key was. The safe meant nothing. It was a tool to be used against me. They had been working on the message for some time. Gawd how low!!!! I never realized it at the time. The guy that set me up was as underhanded as they come. This I didn't realize at the time but they show themselves eventually.

Do I feel bad about it, Nope. Is there a lesson yep. I threw the poster away but now I'm thinking about fetching it out of the trash as a reminder of not what I failed to do but of deeds done by those with out moral character.

If I had a wish, I wish I could I could more quickly gauge the character of people I'm dealing with. I so much envy those who do.

    Usually because we operate by certain morals and ethics, we "think" that all we all abide by those same morals. i.e don't harm others to facilitate the climb up the corporate ladder. Don't steal from others etc etc...but we have people that will sell their mothers, souls, children etc for a corporate title. Alas, that is sadly the reality . The universe needs balance.
