Would This Bother You?
There is a juice bar at my gym near the projection TV and the man who runs it likes to sit down in a chair, and CRANK the TV really loud. REALLY loud. Like I cannot hear the music on my elliptical in my earphones. The other day it was The Princess Bride. I love that film, but I don't find it helpful to listen to it when I am working out.
I don't know if I am just being a ***** or not, but I find it very distracting. He does it almost everyday. Everyday, we mention it to the manager, and he seems to just laugh it off.
Would it bug you?

ugh of course...thats rude lol
does he hav rly bad hearing or something??0 -
Yes that would bother me and in fact I would get forceful with the management and let them know and if it doesn't change I would go somewhere else!0
-
after a while it would bug me, not straight away but consistantly it would! You could always make a request of a really good movie that would be motivating for you :laugh:0

doesnt matter if it would bother me, if it bothers you then trade up and go to a better gym...go to that **** of a manager and tell him stright up im leaving your gym because he didnt do anything about this guy and your paying GOOD money to go here0

You're not being a ***** at all. That would annoy the hell out of me. When I'm working out, I like to hear something that can help me almost get into a trance and ignore anything around me. (I currently use a Japanese Taiko drumming group called Kodo)
Personally, I think you should do as Moonbeamlissie suggests and tell the management that if he doesn't turn it down then you'll be leaving to find another gym.0 -
Let me put it this way...my husband tends to have his video games and/or music loud when I am trying to work out at home, and THAT annoys me...
...some random guy working the juice bar at the gym would be dead if looks could kill....lol.0 -
Hey Mr. Juice Man, how's it going?
Oh yeah? I'm great, thanks!
If you don't mind, could you turn the volume down just a bit? It's really distracting me. I would really appreciate it.
Thanks Mr. Juice Man!0 -
Protest by dumping the membership..FOR CAUSE, everyone that is bothered! AND write letters to the Ownership. Maybe that will get the Manager's attention. "We show people how to treat us by what we accept." When MY Money goes out of MY Pocket for a SERVICE, I have some say in how that SERVICE is performed, or I'm OUT.0

Looks can kill! I've seen it... well kinda. I was 16 or so and granny caught me 'parking' in the vineyard with a girl. She gave me the stank eye, but only enough so that my heart stopped for a minute. Then she switched me.0 -
koosdel, that was the first thing I tried.0

It would bother me too...but as I see it, everyone answers to someone else...so try talking to the manager again and if he laughs it off, pull out your phone and ask for the owner's number and call in front of him...leaving will make a statement but then you are gone and possibly forgotten--unfortunately, people come and go at gyms...maybe talking to the owner with the loud movie playing in the background will get your message across--or have others go and complain with you--there is strength in numbers...worth a shot.0

Thanks, all. At least I now know I am not a complete *****.0

It's awfull that you have been put in this position, especially since management doesn't seem to care. Have you been going there long? I never like to suggest quitting, but I figure you are paying for something and not getting it. Maybe it is time to move to another gym?
It seems this would be a red flag to warn about that particular place. What's next?0 -
...of course! it would totally bother me
that's why i just buy the equipment and do my exercises at home or outdoors
65 cm stability ball = $7 on eBay, $40 for 40lbs each of free weight dumbbells on craigslist
1.1" thick gym mat flooring via netfitpro and i'm all set0 -
I like my gym. I don't want to quit because it is really convenient and that inspires me to go more often. My master plan is to keep whining until they get sick of me and do something about it just to shut me up.
Thanks for your responses, everyone.0
