Plateau No More :)

I have plateaued this week and we all know how frustrating that can be.
Especially since I went out of my way to burn many calories last week and topped it off with a big one on Saturday. On Monday morning the scale hadn't moved.
So what do you do? CHANGE IT UP!! The law of insanity states to expect change when you do nothing differently.
Here's what I did:
- increased protein for breakfast, kicking my metabolism further and getting more out of each day
- increased low gi, filling carbs for lunch (legume soup etc)
- maintained healthy activity, including a run followed immediately by a ride yesterday (this challenged different muscles immediately after one another so my body had to adapt immediately and burn more fuel to do so)
- stayed positive knowing the change would come
You need to do something a bit challenging every now and then, and you need to assess your food intake to see what you can change. It will come. I only lost 400grams but considering I only have 5kg to go that was really good work and I'm really happy with it!
Shake your body up and see what falls off

Thanks you! Will increase protein for breakfast. Not entirely sure how I'll achieve this, but it'll happen.0

I started doing some scrambled eggs every now and then for extra protein at breakfast. I did one of the Orrowheat sandwich thins, and a sliced of 2% American cheese with a tablespoon of light mayo and made a sandwich. It came out to 20grams of Protein and I felt pretty good until lunch.0 -

Agreed, it's all about trying something new. I decided to try a vegan diet for a couple of weeks and I have been very successful!0

Thanks for the information. I am searching on line now for a good selection of high protein foods. I do heavy lifting for about 3-7 hrs. a day( working on a very old brick pile, sorting, stacking etc. ) and need a better way to energize in the mornings. (I've been doing 5 Hour energy Shots but have a hard time waking up each am.) I will be putting your suggestions to use! Thanks again! and I wish you well in your goal!

Thanks for the advice -- LOVE your slogan!
I am reaching a plateau, too -- actually gaining this week. I have started exercising within the last month, and just now started running. So I am slowly shaking things up.0 -

Not sure if you drink coffee...but I add chocolate whey protein to my coffee every morning...makes it taste like a mocha latte you can do the same with vanilla, voila, vanilla latte! Just make sure to mix the protein in the coffee before you add anything cold (i.e. milk) or it will clump up.
I also sometimes have a mid morning protein shake if I have time to make one. Just a couple of ideas!0 -
Thanks for all the info on this!0

Do you have a certain brand of whey protein you use? I'm headed out first thing in the am to purchase some. Thanks!

I use Muscle Max's "Max Pro"...by far my favorite I have tasted. I also like EAS Whey Protein Fit...I buy that from 24 Hr. Fitness, but I've seen it sold elsewhere.0
