Total fat limit matters

Hello to all,

I just found out something interesting that I did'nt know and I found out the hard way. I was losing my 1.5 pounds a week since February 13th and then all of sudden I started gaining weight. At first I thought it was water but after taking a water pill I found out it wasn't water. Then I thought I was in starvation mode because I never met my total calorie goal of 1290; I was always under calories. I just found out that the total fat limit makes just as much as a difference as your total calories. I was always over my fat total; even with me not meeting my total calorie goal the fact that I was over my fat calories made me gain weight. I was exercising 5-6 days a week and everytime I exercised it raised my total fat to a higher number which I met and often time exceeded. I was just told that your fat should be 30% of your total calorie goal and it is not suppose to change regardless of exercise. I know everyone's body is different but there may be someone out there who's struggling to lose. Watch out for the FAT!!!!

I just found this out this week so hopefully I'll start to lose again. Good luck everyone!

This is just an update to the first post. I lost 5 pounds just by staying at my original 30% of fat. I did not eat more even when I exercised. So it WORKED, YEAH!!!.

That's strange, an abundance (non-excessive) of good fats doesn't make you gain weight.

What kind of fats were you eating? And how many grams per day were you doing total?

I'm allowed 43 grams a day without exercise and it would go as high as 60 after I exercise and I would eat that and some on certain days. This may or may not work for everyone but I wanted people to know just in case they are gaining weight and don't know why.

Other calorie tracking web sites don't increase the fat with exercise. Livestrong for one leaves my total at 43 regardless of exercise. This was very interesting to me.

Glad you found your culprit though :)
