I would like to encourage older women especially. I am celebrating my small victory! I'll be 54 next month. I have been watching my diet since 2/7/11. My weight started at 168.6 and I am down now to 162.2. I am 5'6". I probably really started doing my 5 day a week weight lifting exercise commitment maybe 2 weeks after that. I took my "starting" measurements on 2/22/11 and I got to do my first month recheck today. I was very excited because my regular pants were snug and are now sloppy loose. My next pants had a strangle hold on me when I finally shoehorned myself into them so I could know how bad the situation was. I believe it was at least a week ago that I have been wearing the "strangle hold" pants around the house, sitting at my desk, and now they are comfortable!

I'm not sure how this will type out so I'll do my best!

2/23/11 right arm: 13" 3/23/11 right arm: 12" Lost 1"
2/23/11 waist: 31" 3/23/11 waist: 30" Lost 1"
2/23/11 Hips: 42" 3/23/11 Hips: 41: Lost 1"
2/23/11 R. Thigh: 26" 3/23/11 R. Thigh: 25" Lost 1"

I also just realized that my two little rolls of fat on my sides that I used to pinch when I sat on the couch to watch TV at night are now reduced down to maybe a half a roll!

It is really hard to believe that a little bit of exercise can change my body, because I am pretty darn sure it isn't the 6 measley pounds that I have lost! I do 30 minutes of strenght training videos 5 days a week that are upper body and abs one day and lower body and abs the next. I use just 3, 5, and 8 pound dumbbells. I also try to walk the dog at a brisk pace at least once a day for a minimum of 30 minutes, sometimes twice a day and then a bike ride on the weekend each day with my husband and dog for about 40 minutes of not very strenuous riding because of the dog.

I confess I don't eat all of my exercise calories and leave usually 200 or so uneaten. It seems to work for me. I lose about 1 pound a week over time. I am very consistent in my eating, eat very clean 95% of the time, don't do cheat days with food, and don't allow splurges this early in the game. I don't eat "diet" food loaded with chemicals and prefer to do my own cooking for every single meal. Friend me if you like! I'll encourage you by example. I don't do crazy exercises because I am afraid of getting injured and sidelined. I want all of my exercises to be something that I can do for years to come. I am not burning up the charts with weight loss, but it is happening. I'm not going anywhere, so however fast it happens I am greatful that it is happening at all, and it is due to my being consistent. I also enjoy knowing that in this crazy world I live in there may be one thing that I can control: ME! = D
