Hey everyone,
A lot of us have super busy schedules...and I'm wondering, when you can't set aside time to workout, what to you do to compensate? Any little mini-workouts?

For me:
Take the stairs at work (9 flights!): burns approx. 45 calories.
Walking: this may not count, but I live in NYC and part of my commute is about 16 minutes of walking. If I walk at the pace of most New Yorkers, I burn about 111 calories (I bet even more if you count the fact that I have a heavy backpack).

I've taken up doing deep knee squats with just my bodyweight anytime I have a free chunk of time.

When I have to go up and down stairs I jog up them, and do a little lunge too! I also take a few minutes every couple of hours to stretch out my body and go outside!:drinker: :smooched:

When I'm watching T.V in the evenings I'll just stand and walk/march in one spot, do squats and lot's of arm movements. It's crazy b/c it doesn't even feel like I'm working out b/c I'm watching my fave shows while I'm doing it but I work up a sweat!

One thing I do is balance on one foot and then extend my leg back...it's great for your core and then your butt.

I also get up and stretch a few times a day (really because my workouts make me sore) but it feels good and is good for me.

I'm in NYC but I cannot walk up the stairs, they don't let us in these buildings.

If I have the opportunity, I always stand instead of sit. It burns 33% more calories. I also don't hold on to the treadmill or elliptical. I pump my arms - again burns more calories and helps strengthen core/balance.

Also live in NYC so if I just need a couple things from the store, always walk there instead of taking the car.

On breaks I find a secluded place in our WH and knock out 25 push-ups. Good for 100-125 push-ups per day.

Nice, I'll have to look into getting one of those hula hoops!!! I've also been doing a lot of Wii fit, Wii Active and Wii sports as well!! Have to say that our Wii wasn't seeing much action before my hubby and I decided to make some changes!! I'm loving being more active again! And I'm not finding it that hard at all!!!!!

I agree, once you get into the swing of things, you realize it's really just taking that first step that is difficult.
