i just read a post by someone asking what is the best HRM to buy...I obviously do not have the best one on the market but I figured it was good enough to get the job done. It is a sportline watch but did not come with a chest strap. When I purchased it, I knew nothing about HRM's....saw that it counts calories, and purchased it. Now, i'm thinking this was a mistake. I was sent this link to get an estimate for cals burned and decided to test it against my HRM

http://www.triathlontrainingblog.com/calculators/calories-burned-calculator-based-on-average-heart-rate/

so i plugged in the info for when i do zumba. average HR is 135 and I do it for 1 hour (or last class was 52 minutes) and it said I burned 780 calories. My HRM said only 550...what do you think is more accurate? Is it time to buy a new HRM???

I also have a Sportline HRM. I frequently update my heart rate throughout my workout to make sure it is close to accurate as possible. During an hour of Zumba, I burn between 800 and 1000 calories. I am constantly moving to my max and moving all over the floor. Just thought I'd drop my info in so you'd have a comparison from the same watch :) Hope this helps!

I just purchased the SPORTLINE 925 WOMENS HRM this past weekend...It was my first HRM. I was loving the thought of no chest strap.....I did a 45 Minute INSANITY workout ....this is my second time through so I can keep up pretty good....calories burn calculated .....70!!!! Wrote to SPORTLINE and their response was that my particular model is for walking/running so if it isn't registering that type of motion it is incorrect...wish the packaging would have mentioned that before I dumped my $$$$ :-(

I just entered the details on the website to see how it compares to my Polar FT7....it seems the website is overestimating by a bit. It estimated I burn about 50 - 60 more calories than what my HRM tells me. The HRM is definitely more accurate because it is continuously monitoring your heart rate (well if you have a chest strap) and it should use your height as an additional variable.

If you want to upgrade your HRM then go for it but don't do it because of that website. I would also recommend the Polar FT4 or FT7 depending on budget.

I also have a polar FT4 and loving it. I have also heard the chest strap HRMs are more accurate.

Make sure if you are using that link that you put in a vo2 max of 35 if you don't know what yours is. It will over estimate your calories and use a 60 vo2 if you don't.

im not sure what model i have...it is a sportline and its pink (breat cancer special edition) but i have a hard time believing that when i do zumba and i am shakin it all over the place that i ONLY burn 550 calories! when i first bought the watch i did salsa dancing for 45 minutes and checked it frequently and it showed cals burned as 782. maybe the battery is low? there is also a disclaimer about wearing lotions because its a watch?! *sigh* guess i will purchase a new one...
