I've never struggled with alcoholism or drug addiction, but this is such a struggle....trying to stay on the wagon and stick with the plan!
I was talking with my fiancé this weekend about my weight loss efforts. I am so blessed to have found an amazing man who loves me for me. He tells me, "I don't care if you lose 60lbs or gain 60lbs - my love for you remains constant." Of course, he would love me to be healthy and happy just because he cares for me, but I don't have any pressure from him at all.
He did say something that was profound to me though....I was discussing looking for the 'next best thing', and he said, "Kristy, you know what to do to lose weight. You've researched all of these different programs, but I think the reason you depend on these programs so much is because when your motivation wanes or you're not losing the weight that you expect to lose, you can blame the program - whatever it is - instead of taking accountability for your choices." Of course, I know this deep in my soul, but he has a point, and hearing it aloud struck me - I've tried WW, Jenny Craig, EatCleanDiet, Ediets, Atkins, SouthBeath, Carbohydrate Addicts, Women's Health Fit Club, Prevention's Flat Belly Diet, The 400 Calorie Fix Diet, Cabbage Soup, Fat Smash, and more that I'm sure I've forgotten - did I mention all of these in 2010? All of these programs will work if you spend more than 3 days on them. Seriously....what a waste of money and time I've spent in this prison called obesity.
So, here I am committed once and for all to do it my way with by incorporating ALL of the knowledge I’ve learned from SEVERAL different programs and just holding myself accountable. And the bonus – this site is FREE. I may have to keep my fat pants around just to carry around all the money I’m going to be saving!
So, here's to not being perfect, but to being better than I was. Recognizing my shortcomings, but not letting them define me. And, always coming back to this ONE place, where I find tools that work, stories that inspire and friends to encourage.
Have a wonderful day!

I tried many diets, plans, etc over the last 20 years. What finally worked for me: 1)Portion control ( found that if I can't have what I want, I won't stick with it - so just reduce the amounts) 2)Paying attention (gradually shifting to healthier choices) and 3)MFP!!!! The support is awesome.
PS: and don't forget daily affirmations!
Good luck.0 -
