Some gals lose 18-20 pounds in three months - I haven't lost jack in six months - WHAT GIVES!?!?!

That GNC Total Lean was sounding pretty good but I can't take all that mumbo-jumbo. I'm sensitive. :flowerforyou:

stress/diet, you are stressed out about the weight loss and you are not allowing yourself to enjoy it. Yes plateaus happen I like to think of them like pit stops on the journey but in most cases there is some type of shake up required to get things moving, give metabolic resistance or HIIT a try. Gimmicks are gimmicks, real fat loss happens with doing your homework and educating yourself then applied with hard work.

Have any suggestions on how to make anaerobic exercises more fun. I need to find something that I can look forward to doing to get my muscles toned. So far I'm getting the aerobic in by dancing & walking with my lil boy. I have a Zumba toning & sculpting which is decent for now as a beginner, but I know soon I will need something more serious.

switch to a circuit routine or a metabolic resistance routine with a good track of mp3s that will keep that aggressive streak up.
  • So many questions, so little time.

What is a metabolic resistance routine?
think cardio with weights, same idea as kettlebell training but I throw in some variations using dumbbells instead of kettlebells and add in tabata thrusts modified to use 1 heavier dumbbell as I am more balanced using one instead of 2.

The meaning of life is to live life to the fullest, enjoy the trip and to challenge your boundaries every chance you get, to expand your knowledge base, to never stop learning and above all love, laugh, and enjoy all that life has to offer us.

If you're hungry before bed, should you eat?
  • What is the meaning of life?

The purpose of life is not to live forever, but to live fully and exponentially into love.

I'm trying to lose weight - I have a LOT to lose. I have one son who could also stand to lose a little (He's 11, 4'7" and weighs 104lbs), and a daughter and son who are both athletes and thin (He's 14, 6'1" 140 lbs. and she's 12, about 5' and weighs 110 lbs.)

What is the best way to meet all the various diet requirements? I'm going crazy trying to get the athletes their carbs without overdoing on them myself. Is there a secret?
  • I want to maintain my weight/strength but just lose body fat now. Do I eat my excercise calories???

if you get hungry at night you are not spreading the meals out throughout the day, what you need to look at are the following 2 things in your diet.
    1) fiber intake are you getting the goal daily
    2) are you eating the right amount of protein given your workouts and daily intake.
I would also add that you need more water when working out than someone who sits at their desk day in and day out.

Carbs are not the enemy, slow digesting carbs or complex carbs are your friend as well as fats, not the saturated ones the good ones that help on the weight loss journey. Get nuts into all of their diets particularly almonds (a handful a day) or macadamia nuts. For the athletic kids add in more on their plates, you can improve all of your health by simply seeking a cleaner diet for all of you. It will meet all your dietary requirements and theirs as well but keep in mind that a slow switch will go over well a sudden one will meet resistance. If the youngest sees mommy making good choices then chances are he will follow suit and if not then you are the parent and you are in control. Slow controlled weight loss offers the least resistance from the body, making it an easier path try not to go to fast with it.

yes those extra cals will go towards muscle building and boost metabolic rate, think of it as a function of feeding more to build more, not gain or lose the fat in the workout but to lose it over the whole day.
