This week I burned just over 1200cals!! I never did this before! Originally I set myself a goal of burning 1100 a week but never made it. I brought down my goal to 1000cals, and since I got my HRM I havent stopped! Ive been burning at least 200cals a day with cardio, and today I just finished Jillian Michaels 30 day shred (Which a lady mentioned of yesterday! THANK YOU SO MUCH! ) which was strength and cardio! I am going to try and keep it up.

Quick question: How many calories a week do you burn? How many should one be burning a week?

    Typical workout week:

    Sun-Spin-650
    Mon-Cardio strength training-600
    Tues-SPin-650
    Weds-Water Aerobics-350
    Thursday-Step-580

    Off Fri/Sat

Even though I exercise a lot, the weight is not coming off as quickly as I have expected. I generally eat all my exercise cals daily...I'm on 1200 per day.

    Good for you!

I'm an exercise and eating machine - I usually burn at least 600 a day. I'm not sure this is the best plan of attack for losing weight though. Perhaps a goal of 300 a day is better. Whatever you can continue, after the diet is over, is best though.

Congrats girlie!!! I am the same way. My heart rate monitor gets me moving, keeps me moving, and gives me permission to have something extra if I have earned it. YEY! I haven't bought a gadget since he "Thigh Master." Ya, expensive hat rack. LOL So I don't buy gadgets just about NEVER! But I love my HRM and I use it every day.

    HRM = heart rate monitor

Mine is my BFF! I run further, faster, keep moving around more because it gives me an instant reading on how many calories I have burned, how long I have been moving. I love it! It looks like a watch.

This one is like mine...only mine cost $30 three months ago....grrrr...

I seem to do between 2500 and 3000 cals a week (I love that my HRM sends me little messages on Sundays to tell me my totals!!). My goal is to get up to 5000. I don't know why, but it is! lol

WOW! Im glad I asked how many cals each person burns. So far I've lost all this weight without exercise, I decided to help it along hahaha I was hoping to make it half way without exercise hahaha I bet I could have but I like eating too much, so if I wanna eat, I need to exercise! haha

Oh...and to your question...I burn over 2500 a week, but I do extreme playing on the weekends. We are going canoeing again this next weekend, we swim all the time, I beach run, I road run, I bike all the time...I am becoming addicted to keeping busy!

I start my week on Monday, so I still have 3 days left to workout and I am already over 2100. I love keeping busy now! WAHHHOOOO!! <~~~ too much coffee today.

I find that people lose weight faster with less exercise. They keep it off with more exercise. Something to keep in mind.

I would like to have one week where I burn 1,000 calories a day. Just to see what it's like. Hubby and I are taking a week off at home in September, so maybe during that week.

I wonder why this is. Maybe I should hold off until im half way? I don't mind being lazy! hahaha

Where did you get your for $30 that calculates cals? I bought one for $30 and it doesn't give me the calories. I am frustrated because I can go on the elliptical at the gym and it tells me I burnt 300 cals, but then I enter it, and MFP says I burnt 614! So, I've been adding the 2 together and taking the average. I don't know which one to believe and want to be accurate.

I burn between 350 and 650 calories a day... Just depends on what type of and the amount of activity. I just got my HRM this week, and I love it! Like Princess said it motivates you to push yourself harder.

Hi Carrie! I have lost a nice, healthy amount of weight with less exercise than those who have replied. I burn between 200 and 600 calories per day 5 days per week. So between 1000 and 3000 per week. (Wow - i never thought of it that way). I would say more like 1000 - 1800 per week is a better average.

I'm one of "those" people who hate exercising. I'm noticing, though, as I get closer to my goal, that i'm somewhat ... floppy ... and will have to buck up and start trying to tone myself.

In my opinion, if it's working for you and you're happy with your progress.. great job!

I think there are two reasons behind this:

    1. it is easier to eat less if you aren't exercising as much. I'm fairly hungry after a good workout. It's easy to eat some nuts, fruit, and a salad and gain those calories right back.

    2. you are building muscle. My forearms look better than they ever have in my life. I also have deltoids poking through and I can feel the muscles in my thighs. I've never had this much strength before. While a pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat, it takes up less room. I weigh the same, but I'm smaller. I will never get to my beginning college weight (125) because I was gelatinous at that time - but I still hope to get to a size 6-8 or so.

When you're not building up those "pesky", heavy muscle tissues you do lose weight faster, but you end up with a more squishy product and your body is burning fewer calories on its own. But it's great that people can make a change to their bodies without HAVING to exercise if there were, for example, an injury or reason not to
