High School Weight vs. Current

I was thinking about how so many of us here want to weigh/look like we did in high school, myself included (admittedly this was not that long ago for me). But today I remembered that I had grown two inches since then, and wondered if my BMI was still roughly the same, and it was!
High school stats (me at 16, or 5 years ago) : 5'5" / 120 lbs. / 20 BMI / 36th percentile
Now: 5'7" / 128 lbs/ 20 BMI / 28th percentile
So I guess proportionately I still look about the same? That makes sense, because I spent HS thinking I looked 'okay' but thinner would be better. Afterwards I thought '120 lbs., that's great! What was I thinking?' but never factored in those extra 2 inches of height. Now, at the same BMI I think 'I look okay, but thinner would be better'
If you want to check your measurements, the calculator I used is here: http://www.halls.md/body-mass-index/bmi.htm

Very cool site thanks for sharing.
I haven't grown since highschool so I wouldn't mind being near where I was back then.0 -

5'4" / 107 lbs / 18.4 BMI / 25th percentile

I don't have measurements from high school but I know when I got married my sophomore year and wore a size 16 dress. I also had a baby the end of my junior year and I was almost 180 then..so I am smaler now than I was in high school..WOW0

I was 150 when I graduated in '81--that was after losing 30 pounds in 6 weeks in an attempt to join the military. Instead, I married a sailor!
Anyway, I ended up 130 pounds over and above that weight when I first joined MFP-and my goal is 10 pounds below graduating weight--140 is the goal.
I haven't grown not even a bit!0 -
The pic on my profile is me in 99; I weighed 130 (+-). In high school, I was about 120-125, which is what they say I SHOULD weigh. I'm a realist -- I'll never weigh 125 again.0

SERIOUSLY???
Here are the following ideas I have for getting back to 118 pounds.
- Time machine and never have my wonderful kids (having kids will pack on inches and pounds of skin you can't ever get rid of unless you are closer to perfect than I am...and I'm no where close.
- Save a frog from a pond and have him grant me one wish, and I chose being little over everything else on the planet.
- Sever a limb...And unfortunately I still have so many pounds until I see 118 it would have to be either both arms, or a leg. If I never type on here again, you will know that I went for the arms.
- Illness, and in this case, I don't want to be thinner! I want my health.
- I move to the moon where I could in fact weigh less, however nobody will be around to share my new found weight "loss" and I'd be lonely...and loneliness will lead to eating for comfort, and after comfort eating I will then in fact eat up to my current weight in no time, I'm almost sure of it.
- Lie about my weight. However, eventually someone will look at my drivers license and then me, and then my licence again, and I could get arrested for falsifying government documents. I'd be hauled off to jail, then someone will want me to be their bish...at that point being tiny wouldn't benefit me anyway because then I'd get pushed around. Besides, orange makes me look like a pumpkin at this weight.
So you see...dropping down to 118 can not only be harmful for me, but then I'd never be able to type ya'll without arms or from jail...and you'd miss me.
:flowerforyou:
Moral of the story: I'm keeping some of the extra weight on so you guys won't be lonely. :flowerforyou: I'm selfless, aren't I???0 -
I just mentioned this in another thread, but I'll never be my high school weight, unless I become really ill or I'm kidnapped by terrorists.
When I graduated, I was 5'3" and weighed 125 lbs. - and was fairly skinny by anyone's standards (22" waist). I was also gelatinous and never exercised, unless you count smoking a pack a day.
Now I'm still 5'3" and weigh 152. My goal weight is 140 - and I'll probably be a size 6 - and have obvious muscle definition.
I think high school weight is just not practical for everyone, so don't freak out if you never reach it again.:bigsmile:0
