DJ's for weddings

This is a question for all the brides out there. Im just trying to get some figures to compare. Im curious as to how much people are spending for wedding dj's nowadays. Im looking to hire one & Im just trying to get an idea of what to expect if ya'll don't mind sharing.

I got married in October 2010, and did a great deal searching the net. I managed to come across mine and he was very responsive. We met and instantly clicked -- we both grew up in NY and liked the Bills! Anyhoo, his rates were very reasonable compared to a lot of other dj's I had contacted. He charged $399 for four hours and then $100 per hour over that. He arrived at 5:30 (ceremony was at 6:00) set up inside and out, played the music for the ceremony outside, then had it all ready to go inside and played untl 11:00. All for $499! Some wanted over $1K for the same gig. I gave him a list of songs that I wanted to be played and he played them all.

I would definitely do your research on the net.

I am a dj for weddings and we charge $695 for a six hour reception. That includes dinner music, all the annoucements, and music, etc. plus white glove services. I work for Complete Music and Video. Of course shorter shows will run at lower price. we also have photobooths and up lighting, and videography. Check out the website to see if they have a branch near you if you wanted. I got married in Sept 2010 in GA. Our DJ was $500 and that was all day. We didn't have a time limit or anything. My DJ was there by 430 to set up inside and outside and my ceremony was at 630. Played the whole time until midnight. I just printed off a list of what i wanted and he played those and took requests from the guests and played good music during dinner. We wanted big band music for the ceremony and dinner service.. And that's exactly what we got. I couldn't have been happier!
