Tonsillitis, not meeting calorie goals?

Hey all...

So I have tonsillitis... Great. The thing is! Im finding it hard to meet my 1200 calorie goal because I am just not hungry for solid foods! I had my soup, great. I had my skinny cow ice cream (two in fact!) but I am still 200 calories short and I cant just pig out on ice cream all day! What do I eat that is soft, that will get me to that goal (no heavy carbs please!) or should I even bother and just eat more tomorrow!

Thanks, Sarah.

A few days of less food is only to be expected while you're ill, especially if your throat is giving you hell. I wouldn't stress about it too much. Just eat what's comfortable for you, there will be plenty of time to get back on track when you feel better.

you could try making a fruit smoothie with milk to make it smoother, it would be a way to get cals and vitamins in :)

I certainly wouldn't worry about it, Sarah. It's OK to not meet your caloric goal every now and again, especially if you're ill. Plus, the case being what it is, I'd be willing to bet that you're expending less energy than you typically would be, as well.

Don't stress on it, but if you feel as though you absolutely have to eat more, Charli's suggestion is good. I had my tonsils out when I was five, so I have no idea how this is going to effect you in total :p I hope you get through it well :)

I really wouldn't worry about it if i were you. You're ill just make sure you get something in you even if it's not up to your calories. I had tonsillitus last year..I felt so ill so i feel for you. Keep up with your medication and look after yourself.

I agree - you're sick, just focus on getting better. The smoothie idea is great, though!

Protein shakes. They are easy on the sore throat and the protein is beneficial for recovery after infection.
