Red Lobster - For a non-seafood lover

So I've been dieting for little over a week, and have been able to so in the friendly confines of my home. Now it's time for the dreaded meet with friends and eat out at a restaurant. The place - Red Lobster.

Let me start by saying I HATE anything from the sea....I don't care if it's costal fresh out of the water or frozen....for me, all seafood taste....like the ocean, and it's just not my thing.

So I thought to myself, they MUST have chicken there. Well the only thing I can find is this:
Maple Glazed Chicken - 570 calories, 9 fat, 2.5 sat fat, 1950 sodium, 62 carbs

This seemed kinda crazy to me, that grilled chicken would be SO fatty...so now I think I'm leaning toward this:
Wood Grilled Sirlion - 280 calories, 10 fat, 4 sat fat, 850 sodium, 0 carbs
I know the fat content is higher, but the calories, sodium and carbs are all less.

THIS is the the most frustrating thing about dieting, I feel like I'm drafting a budget for a bathroom remodel. :) Below is what I'm thinking of going with. I'm not a steamed veggie fan either, I prefer raw (I know I'm picky) But wondered if anyone has something they like there that is lower in fat. Basically it's 1/2 my daily available calories. Which isn't a problem as long as I plan ahead. :) Now the sodium is OUT of control....but I also don't eat there everyday.

Let me know if you have any other tips or tricks!

My Meal

Food Calories Fat Sat Sod Carb
Wood-Grilled Sirlion 280 10 4 850 0
Wild Rice Pilaf 180 3 0.5 650 34
Garden Salad 90 3 0 105 13
Fat-Free Ranch 60 0 0 25 0
Cheddar Biscuit 150 8 2.5 1950 62
TOTAL 760 24 7 3580 109

Order the sauce on the side - it takes so many calories off of the Maple Glazed chicken! I don't know the numbers but a piece of grilled chicken is pretty low in calories.

They do have a nice low calorie menu too, which I found out is in the beverage menu on the table. I am not a big seafood fan but I can eat some fish.

I'm not a big seafood person either but I like shrimp so I usually have their wood grilled shrimp option. They accomadate your requests so don't be afraid to ask.

I hate seafood too- and I live on coastal Georgia. Warning you- you might not like the Cheddar biscuits. I went and had the steak and it was alright but I tried a biscuit and it had a "fishy" taste to me. I only went cause of my hubby.

They used to have a dish called "grilled chicken" I believe, and I always oredered that. However, it came with 2 chicken breasts, rice and mashed potatoes. When I was heavy, I'd get double mashed potatoes instead of rice, but if I went there now, I'd get double veggies. I don't know if they still have it, but maybe you could ask for a plain chicken breast with the sauce on the side like another poster suggested. Good luck, and just think if you think a dish has a lot of sodium or fat or calories, try eating half of it, they always give you such large portions anyway! Eating out can be so hard, but you can do it!!
