How does everyone stay focused?

Hello everyone,
My name is Brittany. My sister introduced me to this site, and I was curious what helps everyone stay focused. Is there anything that motivates you? When i do group work outs I stay focused and go every class, but when I'm by myself I seem to lose that focus and it can be very frustrating. So any ideas or suggestions would be deeply appreciated. Thanks!

I do best in very motivated group classes too. If I do have to work out on my own, I use a heart rate monitor, and go for a certain number of calories in my workout. That usually helps me keep the intensity up.0

Right now I cant do classes between two kids the funds are just not there for that "luxury" (until spring) So I make sure to find a DVD that really keeps me motivated, and then the rest is by visualizing what I want! Like the new outfits I will be able to get once I lose this weight! I think about that before my workouts and it fires me up to push hard. Or even find someone on here that you can be friends with to help keep you pushing towards your goal!
Good Luck! You got this!!0 -
it can be tough but for me, i visualize my reason my wanting to get fit. having great gym music helps.
don't be in a hurry to leave the gym, make time for it.
good luck!!0 -
I work out at home, but I've gone through many work out dvds, I guess the yoga and boot camp one I'm using now have easy effective routines that keep me focused and there fun! Its become a habit now. If I don't work out I just don't feel good.0

This site helps tremendously. Reading peoples success, and their failures is always inspiring and a learning process. Focus is hard, and so is willpower. These are 2 key things to have in any successful venture.
I just look at my kids everyday, and want them to see a fit healthy dad who can keep pace with them.
Good luck, and stay FOCUSED!0 -
Try the 'cardiotrainer' app...it's free...it will time your workouts and it keeps me going...plus it logs calories too! Good Luck!0

I have only been doing this for 2 months and work out 6 days a week at home. What keeps me motivated is the end result! I want to be healthy and look good and that is enough to make me get my butt up and exercise and log EVERY single calorie I put in my mouth!0

I dont know if this approach will work for anyone else, but I have "paired" my exercise with something else I have to do every day. Since I have to get up and go to work 5 days a week anyways, I get up about 2 hours earlier than I usually would and go straight to the gym to work out. I have everything packed and ready to go, coffee on auto, and just have to pull my clothes on and brush my teeth. I am barely awake until halfway through my workout lol!
Now its just part of my routine, and I have come to enjoy spending this time early in the morning at the gym by myself - I call it my time!0 -
