Hey all,
So I am going to start running (again) and try to train for a marathon, but I'm having a hard time with the starting out part.
What are some ways that you got yourself out the door on those first few runs? Also any ideas on how to get past the mental tiredness of it?
My mom is an active ultra runner, so I have some tricks, but so far none that get me out the door everyday!

Also I have an elliptical that I have been using? any thoughts on wither or not that will be helpful with a new running routine?

Thanks! any motivation and support to get going on this is great :)

    Hi Sarah...

I would sign up for a race right away ... maybe a 5K or 10K in the near future.
I lay out the entire month and play 3 days a week and what my goals are for those runs.
I tell myself I can go as slow as I want to...

Ellipticals are great for marathon training, as they exercise all the right muscles without causing the damage pounding can do. I'd do that a couple of times a week, and a couple of runs in between to rack up the miles. Listen to your body, though. Start off slow, injuries don't help anyone.
