... but in relatively good shape? I am struggling with adding resistance training to my workout - thought I'd start Chalean Extreme. Any thoughts out there? Also would like some reviews on the program.

You will be fine! I have done two rounds of it so far. I love it and I still have 40+ pounds to lose. You will be fine! :) I did blog about my experience. message me if you have any questions. I love that program. I had to change from it for awhile. After six months of it I started to plateau.

ChaLEAN Extreme is made for people who are overweight to help them burn the fat! Just pick weights that are right for YOU, that's what the whole program is about.

I love it and I am doing it now (again). I actually just finished P90X and wanted to do another at home program with weights, and this one fits the bill. Still losing fat...still gaining lots of muscular strength and tone...still loving it!

Can you guys tell me more about the program? Does it come with a schedule? Are the sessions very long? Can I do it alongside other cardio dvds? (cardio addict here- must do cardio 5 times per week at least)

It does come with a schedule, and you work out 5 days out of the week. The 2 rest days are NOT in a row. The sessions are actually pretty short, all are under an hour, most around 40-45 minutes or so. Basically the weight training days are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with cardio on Thursday and Saturday. There is also an ab routine that is worked in too.

You can absolutely add cardio to it! In fact, that's what I am doing right now.

According to Tom Venuto as well as some other well-known reputable sources, the best way to get rid of body fat is 6 sessions of cardio per week and 3 alternating days of weights per day. So, I am doing the ChaLEAN schedule with added cardio. I also only have 1 day off of exercise per week because I like to keep moving. It's working great so far as my clothes are already feeling looser this week!
