Agave Nectar and Coffee

I recently switched from artificial sweeteners in my coffee to Agave Nectar, it tastes great. However, since starting this my weight loss seems to have really slowed down to a crawl. Anyone else had a similar experience?
I try not to drink more than 2 coffees a day and I use 1 tsp of Agave Nectar per coffee. I am working out hard 5-6 days a week. My food is really good and I average 1500-1800 calories a day.
My official weigh in is tomorrow and from today it looks like I've lost no weight this week.
Starting Sunday I'll be cutting the coffee out (either cold turkey or ween myself off) as well as the Agave Nectar.
Any thoughts or anything similar happened to any of you?
Thanks.

I use it with my coffee. I did it as recommendation from my doctor when I had diabetes in Dec. 2009. I don't think it stalls or slows weight loss in anyway. I only drink it @ work. 1 cup. I use fat free creamer too.0

I went from sugar to agave and I was already plateaued...so I don't know. Interested to hear others opinions though0

I've cut down on my coffee drastically because once I plateaued I just had to look for ways to cut and I was using only one serving 4 tsp for my two cups of coffee per day. Sounds weird but on the days I drink hot green tea (no sweetener) I'm less hungry. The days I give in and have my coffee I seem to be hungry all day long! I've tried everything under the sun in my coffee besides powdered coffee mate and I just can't do it!
So, I now drink green tea every morning at least 4-5 days out of the week. I noticed better results with my eating..0 -
I drink more and more green tea and put small amt of FF milk in my coffee when I have it or drink it black. I just wanted to say how encouraging it was to read lacrolix banner as my hgbAic was 7.9 and then down to 6.9 and I have the same goal of getting off the pill I take twice a day. Good for you.0

Since you are only having 2 cups of coffee daily, the minimal addition of calories from agave nectar vs an artificial sweetener should not have any adverse affect on your weight. Your body is going to be happy to have 50 calories of natural stuff vs 0 calories of chemical sweetener, IMO. I think you were headed for a plateau (it happens) and the switch to agave was just cooincidental. Try using skim milk (if you use milk) and cut back a smidge on the agave, over time, if you feel its A) still drinkable lol and still concerning you as a possible cause. I don't see a need to cut out coffee all together, but some people do that. As for me, i like my coffee and its low-cal and filling and, most importantly, wakes me up!!
Good luck w your losses! :drinker:0 -
I was thinking about switching to Agave in my coffee as well but then I read this blog article about it.
