I've been reading about this lately and I was wondering if anyone does it? I am type A blood and it made sense for the most part. It was saying how type A does better on a Vegetarian diet and calming, relaxed exercise(is there such a thing!?). Anyways you can google it and what do you think?

Doesn't really make any sense. Your blood type is determined by antigens on your red blood cells. Red blood cells don't digest, process or store food.

Sounds like another desperate attempt to find an "easy" answer to food problems. And of course anyone who is eating/living unhealthily then goes onto a vegeterian diet and does exercise (even relaxed calming exercise..!?) will feel and look better, so claim that it's a huge success.

I've been reading too, because I was curious if there were types of foods I should be leaning towards, but it just doesn't make sense. Frankly, the generalizations sound a little on par with horoscopes and things. I'm an A blood type and NONE of those things classified me or really seemed applicable to my personality or my medical history.

That being said- none of the advice on there was bad (it all advocated healthier foods and some correlating form of exercise), so if it feels like a good plan to you, go for it. Just remember regular diet staples- get ENOUGH food as well as not going overboard, keep yourself in moderation and try to be diverse.

    Good luck!
  • my mother is also type A and adopted a vegetarian diet years ago before we'd even heard of the blood type diet. and her personality and mood seemed much improved and she felt alot better.

(which by the way, for you skeptics out there- is not a short term diet- it's a lifestyle change thank you much)

anyway, she also used to go to the gym and just do your typcial aerobics classes and elipticals and all that i showed it to her and so she started to do tai chi and vinyasa yoga instead of all the hyper cardio and strength training that she had previously been doing. the results seemed to come so much easier and she stopped having trouble STAYING asleep.

it has made a big difference for her, not b/c of the change in diet-- she had already done that herself cuase she could feel how meats made her feel sluggish-- but when she put it all together it worked wonders.

you're probably going to get alot of replies on this post bashing the whole idea saying that it doesn't make sense, but if it makes sense to you and you are thinking of this as a long term thing rather than a quick fix then i say go for it!

I know there are studies that say type A is predisposed to stomach cancer and type O to ulcers...

Oh- and just to quickly add- if you would like to try a vegetarian diet, remember to do full research on the pros and cons- so you know if/what kind of vitamin supplements you will need (vegetarian diets are often lacking in protein and/or B vitamins if you go into them blind without any planning)

I read about this before and I can believe there might be some truth in it. I'm blood type A, have trouble digesting meat as it makes my digestion system sluggish and find Pilates etc to be more effective then losing blood sweat and tears at the gym. Different blood types affect us with other things why not our diets?
