I decided to stop using artificial sweeteners when we had a problem with rats (due to a neighbor's hoarding). We tried everything to kill them & the exterminator told us there was nothing he could do about them. Then he told us a trick... pour a bunch of packets of "either the pink stuff or the blue stuff, doesn't matter which" into a plate & lay the plate out. He said it fries the blood vessels in rats almost immediately. We took his advice & the rats were gone within days. I don't care how much of it yo have to eat before it's considered poison... in my opinion, it's still poison. I'm not putting in it my body.

Wow this is not only disturbing, its also sad. I would never "fry" and animals insides to get rid of them. Im not like a a PETA person or anything, i just think this sounded awful. As for the whole Splenda debate, To each his own... I use it on occasion

Do you eat an entirely clean diet? Based on this logic... processed foods are poison b/c they do the same to a human's insides. Just curious.

I don't think it's that much of a big deal not to eat processed foods. I never do, they aren't what I was brought up with.

But... humans and rats are not the same species. Except maybe for some politicians or lawyers.

Chocolate, especially dark chocolate, can kill a dog. Grapes & raisins are dangerous for them, too, as well as macadamia nuts, broccoli, mushrooms and avocados. I'm not going to avoid all those, and I'll continue drinking my daily Diet Dr Pepper.

women do not realize how much these artificial sweetners mess with our hormones. For example You are better off with the more natural yogurt at 100 or so calories than with a 60 calorie yogurt with all those chemicals in it.

Do you have any reliable resources regarding the effects on hormones? It's something that I have suspected, but when it's caffiene and asparteme together (and I'm very sensitive to caffiene), it's been difficult to be sure.

Also eating artificial sweets sends a message to you're pancreas to make insulin for the sugar that is supposed to be on it's way. The sugar never arrives and you're left feeling hypoglycemic and craving sugar.

Eating artificial sweets is not helping anyone break their addiction to sugar, aspartame is 200 times sweeter than sugar and Splenda or sucralose is 600 times sweeter, essential making the problem worse. You have to get used to being satisfied with natural sweet things, fruit, carrots, etc.

Splenda hasn't even been consumed by humans long enough to know what the cumulative affects are to eating it.

Very much agree with this post. The goal should be to BREAK the "have to have something sweet: addiction. Most people don't want to do it so here are all the excuses for using artificial sweeteners.

Women especially then are wondering why they have such bad PMS symptoms, mood swings, thyroid issues, blood sugar disorder, etc, etc.............

Our bodies were not made to put artificial or processed foods in it. I am back to my roots and the way I was raised. Healing my body through WHOLE FOODS nutritions.

This is going to fall on blind eyes and deaf ears.....................because the "FDA" says its safe, most are brainwashed to believe its safe in moderation..........

But the realization of the cumulative effects of everytime they have something with that artificial sweetener..........

I don't think she was asking for condemnation or that she was being combative, like it seems like you are assuming, based on your response. I think she is genuinely asking in order to do some research on her own. She thinks she has a sensitivity to it and would like to find out more.

I was referencing the original comment. I just went to the first one above instead of going back to the original post. I have already PM'd the person above the resources she was asking about.
