What are your best excuses for not going to the gym/exercising?
Here's some of mine:
1) I need to lose some weight first
2) I'll go tomorrow
3) No, really i'll go tomorrow!
4) I'm tired/hungry/t.o.m
5) i don't have a hair band with me
Is it ok to hate exercise? what are my alternatives? How can i convince myself to go? Does anyone remember those toning tables that were popular in the early 90's, where all you did was lay on it and it moved your body parts up and down....now that's my idea of exercise!!!

All those excuses seemed pretty good to me.
Now that I'm going to the gym I don't remember why i waited. I love going to the gym now and I miss it when I take a day off.
I used to hate the thought of exercise and the fact it would make me sweat - EWWW! Now I know I need to get that sweat rolling to make a difference - like my friend Lana says "leaving some DNA behind!"
As far as convincing yourself to go - go the first time and just take a tour of the gym and see what help is available to learn about all the different machines and classes that are offered. That might be enough to motivate you to try it out the next time. Good Luck!

I don't hate exercise, but I do hate an audience. :-)
Last summer I started to scour Craigslist and for the cost of about three months gym membership I have a decent gym in my own home. I've got a cardioglide, a treadmill, a rebounder and a totalgym. Mix those up with videos I can get from NetFlix or YouTube and I'm pretty set. :-D0 -

My excuse usually was, "The only time I have to go to the gym is right after work but its SO busy then, I dont want to fight the crowds."
I finally just went the other day and lo and behold, the crowd was no worse than later at night! I was so surprised and pleased, I'm now shooting to make it to the gym after work at least 2-3 times a week!
Hairbands - I keep them in the car.
I'll go tomorrow...but if I go today I wont have to go tomorrow (and I use that reason daily, so yeah I end up going the next day anyway).
I hated the gym at first, but now I've come to enjoy it because of how it makes me feel. Give it a shot!0 -
As another MFPer told me you have to start out with stuff you like If you like dancing maybe try something like Zumba or a dancing DVD workout, if you like swimming try swimming laps doing water aerobics, so start with stuff you like until you get comfortable with a exercise routine0
