Fast heart rate skinny girl

My whole life I ate anything I wanted and never gained an ounce. I had a resting heart rate of 120-136. My cardi said my heart was twice its age and as long as it kept beating that way, I'd never gain weight and I would die very young. After a mild heart attack and getting a dx of A-fib, they medicated me to keep my HR at a normal range. My resting rate on meds is about 98-101 now. And I fight with weight gain every single day. It's very irritating to me but keeps me accountable. My question is, what is your usual HR during a cardio workout? I can't do honest to goodness cardio because mine goes insane and eventually isn't even beating it's just quivering and I pass out. To me 98 still seems high only because I can feel it beating and it bugs me. O and I'm 5'8" 133.5 if you need to know.

I would just like to compare to other people. Do you know your HR? Resting and during cardio?

I think you need to discuss your exercise with your Dr..

My resting heart rate is 65ish and during cardio it is between 150-170. Does that help?

Oh and I'm 5'7" and weigh 163 right now.

Not an expert, sorry, I thought you were just looking for ranges:blushing:

I agree. You have a unique situation and should not be getting that type of advice here. You really need to talk to your doctor about what is the best way for you to stay healthy.

I already have. She said don't do it, so I don't.

I'm 26 years old, 5'7" and 150 lbs...my resting heart rate never got below 60 even when I was in the best shape of my life, settling around 70 right now. I like to keep it around 140-160 during moderate cardio. Harder intervals will send it a little higher.

I have no idea what my resting heart rate is.

I'm 23, female, 130lbs, 5'5" and my heart rate during a running good cardio workout.. i.e. Running intervals is 170-180. If I'm working out to Jillian Michaels it's 140, which is circuit training.

My resting HR is 84 and my HR gets to 180-190 during working out, even just doing a warm-up. However, doctor feels this is a side effect of my thyroid medication which I am getting looked at next week. I couldn't imagine what you are feeling like with a resting hr so high. I hope they are able to get it down closer to normal soon.

Even in my sleep it would be that high and I'd be breakin a sweat. Doctor came in for one of my appt.s and I had fallen asleep on the table so she monitored mne while I was asleep and said i could have been running a marathon. It's exhausting. I can't catch my breat I'm always shaking. It's much much better now. I still feel even at rest like I just ran up one flight of stairs like I'm just starting to warm up to a big work out, but still I feel a hundred times better than I used to.

Hi, coincidentally I have a similar situation. I was always skinny but I had a fast heart rate but developed an arrhythmia. The arrhythmia got out of hand with beats of up to 230, so I had an ablation procedure to fix it. Several years later I developed another arrhythmia and now I'm on beta blockers to control it but it has slowed my heart rate down and now that I am peri-menopausal I can't lose a pound on diet alone, which I always could. I do walk every day and watch what I eat but it does nothing. So, I asked my cardiologist can I take a break from the meds and he didn't suggest it. He did agree that the meds do cause weight gain. So, frustrating. I can't do a lot of cardio because I have an old leg injury, so he suggested exercised in the pool or lifting weights which I have started. Unfortunately, I have no access to a pool. Resting HR is between 80-90 and while walking it up too 150.
  • Hello I have a fast heart rate (due to medical illness) and i am on the smaller side (5'6" 115lbs)
My heart used to beat at over 250bpm at times and 150's at rest but then i got an ablation. Now, on medication my resting heart rate is about 110-130 bpm. When i do cardio i can hit 200bpm... I find it easier to do HIIT cardio because i can push myself really hard then have time to recover. If you have more specific questions feel free to private message me.

Edit: I am on Atenolol a betablocker which i have found very helpful and calming and no it has not caused weight gain.

Not a woman, but my heart rate when exercising ranges between 125-185 BPM depending on what I am doing.

Have you considered gentle exercises like Yoga or Tai-Chi? Tai-Chi especially is gentle, but provides a great overall workout.

    Hi,
My resting heart rate is 48. My heart rate fluctuates depending upon what I do. For fast walking which I enjoy, it gets up to 110-121. When I'm running (my true love) I'm usually between 143-171 and it usually gets higher the longer I run. When I'm doing circuits with weights I'm usually between 115-155. I don't know how I'd manage without being able to do any of these workouts because I enjoy them so.

Best wishes to you all on finding effective treatment and options for exercise.

Hello! I just have to say this is very interesting. I've never heard of people having such high heart rates before. Learn something new every day!

My true resting heart rate (taken while lying down) is somewhere around 55-60. When I exercise, it ranges from about 120-170's depending on what I'm doing. Something gentle like walking keeps it pretty low (120-140) but more intense work like running or using the stairmill gets it into the 160-170 range.

I'm on a beta blocker for fast heart rate (and migraines), so I don't use heart rate as a measure of exercise intensity. I mainly go by sweat and physical sensations :) If I feel like I've been out running, I figure it's cardio. Or close enough for me.

I love my beta blocker. The fast heart rate didn't seem like a good thing! I stopped my exercise because the heart rate seemed too high and I felt really bad doing it, and the doc put me on the meds (and ran tests, of course). I'm so glad they have them. Now I can exercise and not worry about getting mine too high (but that differs among folks even on meds, obviously).

It slows down my metabolism a bit I'm sure, yeah. But I can exercise! I'll take it :)

I am on the opposite side. My resting heart rate is really low, always was. I'm 31 years old, 5'9" / 175cm, weighing 152lbs / 69kg which is within healthy bmi range. My puls rate is 47-48.

When I exercise it really depends onwhat I'm doing and how used I am to it.. When I started to run this week I hit 179bpm on the first day. Today was my third time and even though I was faster it was only 172. The same with "30ds". In the beginning I went up to 173 even though I couldn't completely pull through. Now, after 13days of level 1 and doing 98% of the exercises I hit 158bpm
